When designing you attic room always take into consideration:
Access – make sure that all your large furniture items are flat-pack as loft access often involves a narrow or twisting staircase. You may want to confirm the dimensions of your furniture both built and boxed before you place your order.
Room height – if you have a low ceiling, choose a low bed. It will increase the sense of space in the room and the actual space above your bed! Choosing low bedroom storage and side tables is also a good idea – keep everything in proportion and you will achieve a coherent, sophisticated loft.
Room size – if space is tight, it makes sense to pick a bed design with a compact footprint. A number of our beds can be made without a headboard and have the same footprint as the mattress – take a look at our Kyoto and Kumo beds. It is always a good idea to choose simple, plain bedding for a smaller bedroom – keeping clutter and pattern to a minimum results in a greater sense of space and calm.

Choosing low beds for the attic:

At the Natural Bed Company we offer a wide range of low beds perfect for loft spaces where the slope of the roof or the positioning of a window can limit the height of your bed.

The Kyoto, Kumo and Kobe are Japanese style low beds, available with or without a headboard. If you with to make the most of the room space, the Kyoto can accommodate up to four under-bed drawers, making your loft or attic not only the perfect guest room but when family and friends aren’t visiting, a great storage space.

If you are interested in more classic designs the Nevada, Java and Sonora beds fit the bill perfectly. The Sonora and Nevada are very similar, the Sonora just has a taller headboard panel. The Java has a sloping headboard, great to lean your pillows against while reading in bed!

The Oregon, Kulu and Koo are worth a look if you wish to make a statement or if the loft is to be used as a main bedroom. These are impressive beds with a bigger footprint.
