New to Natural Bed Company is our collection of Indian Style Beds beautifully crafted in our Sheffield workshop. This collection includes the Raj four poster bed, the Mandalay low bed with carved headboard posts and the Samarkand – a similar design to the Mandalay but a taller design.
These beds have been inspired by Indian architecture and interior design. We have a collection of Indian made beds designed a few years ago by Natural Bed Company and made exclusively for us by a Bishnoi family. Our new collection is reminiscent of these beds, but without the hand carving and with a crisp, more modern feel.
These updated ‘Indian’ beds offer carved details and a subtly exotic look, while suiting western homes and interiors.
This is perfect for a master bedroom with high ceilings. It is a stunning statement bed, which can be dressed with a canopy for maximum impact. The bed is available in many sizes and the following timbers: natural solid oak, beech, maple, cherry, walnut and ash, or tulipwood stained in a dark wenge finish.
This bed will suit a variety of looks and bedding styles, from the Zari bedding shown on the Raj below to modern soft linen bedding in neutral colours. The Samarkand Indian bed is shown above in solid Tulipwood with a ‘wenge’ stain – this stain is a very dark espresso brown colour. The Samarkand is also available in oak, walnut, cherry, beech, maple or ash and can be ordered in a range of sizes. This is a mid height bed (the height to the top of the bed slats is 38cm, the overall height is 115cm) which works well many of our side tables (including the tall Cube tables) and under-bed drawers.
Like the Raj, this Indian style bed can be dressed in various ways: it looks impressive with the jewel tones of our Indian bedding, soft neutral bedding will suit a more modern look, while our patchwork bedding is perfect with this bed when you want to create a more rustic look.
The Mandalay bed is shown above in solid oak, which gives it a very fresh, modern look. It is a lower bed than the Samarkand (the height to the top of the bed slats is 30cm, the overall height is 92cm) and is shown above with the low Cube bedside tables – also in solid oak.Like the Samarkand and Raj, the Mandalay is available to order in a wide range of timbers and sizes.
