About the Black Orchid
Our beautiful Black Orchid is a stylish, contemporary 4 poster bed combining elegant, classic proportions with a modern purity of design. The Black Orchid is made of solid oak and stained in opaque black lacquer. The black finish is almost matte, with just a soft, subtle sheen to show off the natural grain of the solid oak. The Black Orchid is a substantial bed, available in a range of widths from single to super-king, it is 196cm in height. Don’t worry about access though, as with all our beds, the Orchid arrives ‘flat-pack’ – ready for simple self assembly. This 4 poster is very easy to put together (we just advise that it’s ideally a two person job) and the construction is rock solid. The Orchid has a tall headboard panel – ideal for piling up your pillows against when reading in bed.
If you decide you would prefer the natural colour of the wood – take a look at the Orchid bed – this four poster is available in a range of hardwoods with a clear ‘natural’ finish.
The great thing about black is that it goes with everything! In our photo-shoot we added in solid oak bedroom furniture with a natural finish – from our Black Lotus collection. We have selected items from our Shaker style range, but the Cube collection works equally well. The oak adds warmth to the scheme, while the Damien bedside tables and Wireworks Console Table – tie the scheme together as here they have a natural oak base with a black tray top (other finishes are available).
However if you are looking for a more monochrome look this bed will also look great with a wide range of painted furniture – black, white or in-between. It is a warm black so you don’t need to worry that the scheme will look to cold. The Black Orchid has a pure, pared-down style so we have chosen simple, contemporary bedding for the photographs on our website. However you don’t need to feel limited to one style, the simplicity of the Orchid design ensures that almost any bedding style will look good on this bed.
