If you’re hoping to emulate traditional Oriental styling, consider opting for Wenge Stained Pine as your timber of choice. The definition of minimal, contemporary Eastern style.
The Kumo is a low, Oriental style bed; the perfect choice for compact spaces. If you have a loft space or low-ceiling room, this sleek base leaves you with plenty of room to play with. It can be ordered here with a headboard, or is also available without a headboard. This Japanese-inspired bed would also suit an Oriental room design. Pair with a slimline mattress or futon to complete the look.
Classic Japanese styling features minimal, considered colours. Timbers such as Wenge Stained Pine, Whitewash Pine and Oak are popular choices for this bed base. For example, the Kumo is pictured in Wenge Stained Pine above.
If you’d like the bed to be slightly higher, or need some under-bed storage, take a look at our Kyoto bed. Alternatively, if you’re considering a really low bed – check out the ultra-low Kobe (crafted to have the same Oriental style).
Every bed is made to order. Our current lead-time is around 6 – 8 weeks (+ delivery).
All our wooden beds are fitted with sprung beech slats for extra comfort and to increase the life of your mattress. The bed is supplied with non-slip matting to keep your mattress in place.
Lacquer Finish: Our ‘natural’ look lacquer finish allows you to appreciate the myriad colours and subtle variations in tone of natural timber. It retains a very subtle, soft sheen which protects the timber from grease marks and some stains.

Mattress Depth Information: Our bed bases are designed to fit a mattress depth of around 20cm. If your mattress is much deeper than this, please let us know. We can customise this bed by slightly adding to the headboard panel. When placing your order, please do let us know your mattress depth. We can then confirm if any alterations are required and if there would be any additional cost involved.
Please note: ‘Clear Pine’ is finished in our standard, natural-look lacquer. ‘Sanded Pine’ does not have any lacquer/finish at all. They do not look any different from one another, but the ‘sanded’ option does feel slightly rougher to the touch.

Outside of the Sheffield area, we use a carrier. Delivery is arranged with the carrier once your order is ready, and will be on an agreed day and time slot.
