At Natural Bed Company our enthusiasm for the natural beauty and subtlty of solid timber inspires our taste for rustic style interior design. Solid wood is a key feature for this style: be inspired by nature and select from its colour palette.  Soft greens, warm greys, and every shade of brown from pale beige to bitter espresso, can be incorporated. Neutral tones in paint and fabrics, beautifully complement the natural timber colour range.

Take a look at our Sonora bed (shown above). It is a low bed, perfect for a loft space , with a large sweep of timber for the headboard. If you prefer a painted headboard choose a neutral colour on the headboard, take a look at the Koo bed. It is shown below with a Farrow&Ball Downpipe headboard panel and a solid oak bedframe. It is available in oak or walnut, with a headboard panel in the colour of your choice.

A rustic look has a relaxed, comfortable feel – nothing is too contrived. In fact the more used and lived in the look the more authentic the feel! This look has an honest and unstudied effect, and evokes a simpler time. A combination of solid wood furniture, natural bedding and some vintage finds form the basis for this look.

Walls are painted plaster in soft tones, or clad in timber or a natural stone tile. The floor should be timber boards or large stone tiles, and made cosy with loosely woven wool or leather rugs. A cowhide or sheepskin rug will add a soft, cosiness perfect for autumn/winter. Take a look at our Rustic Style Pinterest Board for more inspirational images. Here you’ll be able to see how a wooden bed, simple linen bedding and a wool throw can result in a sophisticated, romantic rustic style.
