Due to the popularity of our Black Lotus solid oak bedroom storage, we’ve decided to add a range of walnut bedroom furniture to the Black Lotus Collection. We have selected a number of designs from both the Shaker Style range and the Cube Collection to be made in solid walnut by the same family company in Vietnam that currently make the oak items in this range.

The Shaker Range of Solid Walnut Bedroom Storage

This range includes a compact, 2-drawer bedside unit, along with a 3-drawer chest, tall 5-drawer chest and a wide 6-drawer unit. The style of this collection is inspired by simple ‘Shaker’ look furniture, but has a more modern sensibility. Classic in shape and proportion, the drawers in these chests are without handles (a groove under the drawer front is used to pull the drawer out instead) resulting in a fresh and contemporary look.

The Shaker range in solid walnut is shown above with the Zanskar bed – handmade in our Sheffield workshops – also in solid walnut. Our Zanskar bed looks beautiful in this timber – the tall sloping headboard makes a wonderful showcase for the variety of tones and the vibrant grain of natural walnut. The finish we use for our solid wood beds is very similar in look to the finish used in Vietnam – an almost matte effect, that doesn’t dramatically alter the natural colour of the timber. This soft satin lacquer protects the timber without disguising the natural beauty of solid walnut.

The Cube Collection of Walnut Bedroom Furniture

The Cube range made in solid walnut is a slightly smaller range than the oak Cube collection, but still includes our most popular designs: the small 2-drawer bedside, 3-drawer chest, 5-drawer chest, low 1-drawer unit and the open storage cube.  Black Lotus ‘Cube’ is a modern bedroom furniture collection, perfect for contemporary interiors.

The Cube collection in solid walnut will work well with the majority of our walnut beds (or black stained oak or ash beds – it you are looking for a contrast). Again we have shown this range with our Zanskar bed in solid walnut – the Zanskar has a slightly retro style with modern design details – and so works with both the more classic looking Shaker style and the very modern Cube range.
