Here we celebrate this (undoubtedly brief!) Indian summer with a look at our Indian bedding collection – from embroidered, fine cotton duvet covers in jewel like colours to bold block-printed bedding with intricate patterns. Here we’ll take a look at our current favourites and suggest the furniture and accessories we would choose to complete the look…
Cool blues and greens
Looking for cool and calm bedding to see you through these warm nights? We have a wide range of light cotton duvet covers in a range of cool blues and green to see through the season. We recommend a low tog duvet (4-9tog depending on your preference) to go with a light-weight cotton or linen duvet cover.
Our Indian bedding collection covers a range of styles, as well as colours – from pretty embroidered floral duvets and light-weight quilts in fresh blue and white – to vibrant textiles with gold details perfect for a more Bohemian style. For a soft, subtly feminine style take a look at the Blue Floral embroidered duvet cover or pretty patchwork Wysteria duvet cover which incorporates a range of floral fabrics in blue, green and aqua shades. If the evening turns cool, add a Blue Fleur quilt or Blue Kantha bedspread – both in blue and white. For a simpler, contemporary take on the cool blue and white theme – try the Hira duvet cover and Shanti or Kadi Sky quilts. The Hira duvet and pillowcases are in a cobalt blue cotton with a hand block-print pattern in navy and ivory. The Shanti quilts are available in deep indigo or pale aqua, both have an ivory chain stitch detail. The Kadi Sky is a popular patchwork quilt in stripes of blues, green and ivory.
The Hyderabad and Zari duvet covers are in rich Kingfisher blues with gold embroidered details – both exotic and contemporary, these duvet covers are a perfect fusion of styles. The silk Pha Tung duvet in indigo blue is also a wonderful combination of traditional weaving techniques with a modern design – the Pha Tung is woven on village handlooms from local silk using traditional dyes made from leaves and plants gathered in the local forests.
Rich, warm shades
This collection of Indian bedding incorporates many hot colours – from vibrant crimson, to deep russet and burgundy – in fine Indian cotton and sumptuous silks. For truly luxurious bedding take a look at the Pha Tung organic silk duvet cover in ‘flame’ – in lustrous shades of crimson, burnt orange and gold. The Zari duvet covers with gold brocade detail are also available in a range rich colours – mango, russet and warm black.
For a relaxed, boho look try our Kalamkari or Madras patchwork duvet covers – the Kalamkari is made up of squares of russet and gold floral fabrics and a plain deep terracotta cotton, the Madras duvet covers are available in two options: the original Madras duvet has burnt orange and violet tones, while the Red Madras duvet cover incorporates gold, wine red and crimson patterned fabrics. If you are also looking for a quilt in these colours – take a look at our Eden Crimson or Kadi Ember bedspreads.
Restful neutral shades
If bold colours aren’t to your taste we also have a range of Indian bedding in more neutral tones – ivory, beige, grey and soft sage. Take a look at out Yamuna duvet covers in Ivory or Stone & Ebony. The monochrome theme continues with the ivory and black Ikat duvet covers – the cotton icat fabric is handwoven in a village near Hyderabad in South India.
For a touch of colour we have a range of bedspreads in vanilla, sage green and beige. The Zari quilted bedspread is made using cream cotton fabric decorated with wide, gold embroidered ribbon. The Eden Sage reversible bedspread has a soft sage and ivory print to one side – with a colourful floral pattern to the reverse for when you want a change of look.
Indian Style Beds and accessories to complete the look…
We recommend that you take a look at our Indian style beds – the Raj, the Samarkand and the Mandalay beds – if you are feeling really inspired by Indian style. The elegant proportions and carved details of these designs ensure they make a stunning centre-piece to any bedroom. The Togo is another ‘exotic’ looking bed, it is a low bed , but with a tall headboard panel which has two tall spiked posts.
We also offer a range of soft cotton and linen nightwear and robes. For a romantic, bohemian look try the our floral kimono robes in ivory or pale blue, we also have an extra long ‘duster’ robe with a grey floral print and soft linen robes. For more vibrant, boldly patterned Indian cotton kimonos take a look at the kimonos in coral red and paprika. We also have a range of loose, light-weight cotton nightwear, with a blue spiral pattern or aqua dots design – including night-shirts, robes, pyjamas and camisole & shorts sets – all made in India, but designed in the UK with a relaxed, contemporary style in mind. Complete the look with matching cotton slippers or Moroccan leather slipper shoes.
