Last year I said it seemed a bit early to be writing a blog about Christmas deliveries in October! Well, this year we think it’s wise to think about ordering your bed even earlier, if it’s needed for pre-Christmas delivery. This year has been even busier than last for us here at Natural Bed Company and as a result, our production lead times have gotten a little longer. This means you will need to finalise an order with us soon to secure a December delivery slot.
We are currently working to a 7-8 week manufacturing lead time for our hardwood, upholstered and pine bed bases. We generally use a two-man carrier service and this delivery company aim to deliver within 5-7 working days of the goods being collected from our Sheffield workshop for the majority of UK locations.
For most customers, including those in the Sheffield area, I would advise placing your bed order by Monday 23rd October to guarantee pre-Christmas delivery. If you cannot order in time to meet the above cut-off date, but have a suitable car or van and can collect direct from our workshop, it may be possible to order a little after this date. Please just call us to discuss this option.

Deliveries to the above locations can take longer to complete (14 days rather than the usual 7) and therefore I would advise you place your order earlier. An order received by Monday 16th October would be guaranteed a pre-Christmas delivery slot to a ‘remote’ location.
If you decide on a bed but do not require delivery before 23rd December (our carrier’s last pre-Christmas delivery date) please be aware that no deliveries can take place from the 24th December to the first week in January – which will add a little to our usual lead-time. (When you place your order with us – we will give you an estimate of the date we expect to have made your bed for. Please note – this is not the expected delivery date. Generally the carrier will be in touch regarding the delivery date.)
Our sofa-beds are always popular around the festive period, with many customers using them to give Christmas visitors somewhere comfortable to sleep over the holidays. In previous years, we have only been able to supply these items on the same lead times as our bed bases. This year is different however, as we now keep stock of the Black Lotus Panama and Cuba sofa beds in oak and walnut. Panama sofa beds are available in three-quarter (120x200cm) and double (135x200cm), with just the double on offer for the Cuba. The Black Lotus collection is batch produced in Vietnam for Natural Bed Company, this means that now we only require a lead time of just 3 weeks (the current production time of our futon mattresses) giving you a few extra weeks to place an order. I would advise placing a Panama or Cuba order no later than week commencing 20th November to ensure pre-Christmas delivery.
If you are interested in either a Cuba or Panama in a different size or timber from those listed above, we can still manufacture them to order in Sheffield to meet your requirements. However these would have to be put into production on a standard order basis and would therefore require an 8 week lead time. Both the Tokyo and Fiji sofa-beds are still made to order in our Sheffield workshop and again have the same 8 week lead times as the other models in the range.
As with our bed bases, I would advise placing an order no later than Monday 23rd October.
Black Lotus Furniture
Our range of Black Lotus oak and walnut bedroom furniture has been popular all through this year and I can’t see the demand slowing down as we approach the festive period! We have just re-stocked all items in the collection, batch produced exclusively for Natural Bed Company, and we hope to maintain stock levels on the run-up to Christmas. Stock pieces of Black Lotus furniture could be added on to the final weeks of pre-Christmas collections at very short notice – we would just suggest orders are placed by 10th December to ensure delivery (for all non-remote areas) before the holidays.
We aim to keep stock of standard UK double (135x190cm), king (150x200cm) and super-king (180x200cm) mattresses for all models, excluding our futons and the Craft mattresses, as these are made to order and run to 3 and 2 week lead times respectively.
If we do not have your required mattress in stock and ready to despatch, it can take 3-4 weeks after an order is placed for the mattress to be delivered to us. Please keep this in mind if you are interested in a small single (75x190cm), standard single (90x190cm), three-quarter (120x190cm) or Euro-king (160x200cm) mattress.
All mattresses, except the Craft range, can safely be sent on a 1 man, overnight service and as a result, we can arrange deliveries up to Wednesday 20th December, so any order received by 20th November will be guaranteed to be despatched for a pre-Christmas delivery. After this date, please call us to discuss.
We generally keep stock numbers of smaller gift items on our website indicating that we have the item in stock. Where a product is in stock we can generally get it to you within a week. We would suggest a pre-Christmas cut off date of Monday 18th December – just to be on the safe side!

National 2 man, to room of choice delivery: Pine bed bases in larger sizes (135x190cm and above, with headboards), Hardwood beds and larger bed frames such as the Tibet Bed, Cochin Classic Bed, Zanskar, larger sofa beds such as the Cuba and Panama and all four posters.
National 1 man, to front door delivery: Pine beds (in smaller sizes- 75×190, 90×190 and 120x190cm, without headboards), simpler sofa beds such as the Tokyo and Fiji, futon and foam mattresses.
Local deliveries: All beds, sofa-beds, futon mattresses and foam mattresses delivered in Sheffield and the surrounding area.
International deliveries: Please contact us via e-mail to get a quote for delivery outside the mainland UK and for an estimate of the delivery time.
