It isn’t just toddlers that need a bedtime routine – a great way to ensure that you have a full and restful nights sleep is a proper wind down routine to get you and your mind relaxed. In this blog, I’m going to go through my current evening routine featuring the new Mirins line of handmade, natural and organic toiletries and skincare…
It’s easy to get home from work, kick off your shoes and vegetate in front of the TV all night, but a great way to switch off from the stresses of the day is to treat yourself to a little pamper evening. The Mirins line is handcrafted with natural and organic ingredients to nourish your body and is based around Herbalism and Aromatherapy to enhance your mood (a winning combination!). These products make it easy for a spa experience at home, every night!
First things first, light a Mini Soy Candles. Made exclusively with Soy Wax and Essential Oils, these Aromatherapy candles give your bathroom a delicate, soothing fragrance and a gentle, relaxing light. You can’t have a bath without a candle, right?
When running the bath, I like to use the Body wash to give the water a little foam, which also cleanses and nourishes the skin. Then its time for a sprinkle of Herbal Bath Salt, the Calming blend is perfect for an evening, the salts are invigorating and rich in minerals, which soften and heal your skin whilst soothing your mind and body. The salt also has a mix of dried rose petals, lavender buds and other ground herbs (so makes your bath look and smell super posh!) Take a look at the Calming, Intuition and Purify Gift Sets which include bath salts, a scented candle and luxury body oil.
Before jumping into this beautiful mixture, I like to apply one of the Clay face-masks. I use the mask aimed at combination/oily skin (anyone else thought spots were just for teenagers?) and I paint this all over with an old (but clean) flat foundation brush, but your fingers would work just as well! FYI – although the instructions call for 2 teaspoons of clay mixed with 2 teaspoons of water, I found that this amount was enough for a heavy layer covering my face, neck and most of my chest too! So a 1 teaspoon mixture is more than enough for a thick layer on your face.
Now’s the time you’ve been waiting for – grab a glass of wine or a cup of tea and a book or play some music and get in your perfectly run bath and SOAK!
When you’ve had enough of the sound of your own voice singing along to London Grammar (what I tell people I’m listening to) or Spice Girls (what I’m actually listening to – don’t judge me) or have reached a good stopping point in your book, follow these next steps to feel your decadent skincare still working the following day!
Scrub off your face-mask and grab some soap – I’d say any would do but when you have the choice between Mirins Shea Butter Soap and anything else the choice is easy. Made with soothing and balancing essential oils, this soap is especially formulated to gently cleanse and lift your mood. I also like to use a scrub, since the weather is warming up its important to pay extra attention to body parts we may have neglected over the winter months. My favourite is the Purify body scrub; its zingy and crisp scent leaves me feeling refreshed and squeaky-clean. A good scrub, which not only removes dead skin cells but also increases blood circulation and stimulates lymph production to eliminate toxins and ensures your skin feels moisturised and smooth. There is also a lip scrub and balm for those of us with year-round chapped lips!
When you feel your water going cold, sadly, it is time to say good-bye to your amazing bath. But it’s not all bad; you’re almost ready for everyone’s favourite part of the day – getting into bed!
Don’t forget to moisturise; I like to warm the Body Oil up in my hands before messaging into the skin. These rejuvenating oils bring a serious spa vibe into my daily routine! I like to use the Body Balm on serious dry spots like elbows, knees and feet etc. The Mirins body care set contains a handy travel tin of body balm, a body scrub and a large body wash – all with the fragrance ‘Purity’ – a blend of rosemary, grapefruit and tea-tree.
To remove all trace of the Face Mask I use the Rose Water Spray on a cotton pad to sweep away any leftover dirt from the day or clay from the mask, you can also spray this directly on your face pre-moisturiser for an extra layer of nourishment or as a refreshing spritz throughout the day (a perfect addition to your desk drawer)!
Now its time to hop into bed and drift off, feeling clean and calm and ready for the following day!
