I know it might be hard to believe but there are now less than 100 days to go until Christmas! With that in mind, now seems like the perfect time to talk about our expected delivery times for the festive period and the key dates you need to keep in mind if you need a bed before the big day.

Ordering A Bed Base:

We are currently working to a 6 week manufacturing lead time for our range of wooden bed bases, with collections from our delivery company taking place every Monday.

For the majority of our national and local customers I would advise placing your bed order by Monday 5th November to guarantee pre-Christmas delivery. This will give our delivery company enough time to collect your order from our workshop and arrange a delivery date with you before their cut off date. For deliveries around the festive period, I would always recommend accepting the first date you are offered by our carriers whenever possible; it can take up to a week to re-arrange a time-slot which may result in a delivery in the new year.

Please be aware that our carriers, Domestic Distribution, class the following post code areas as remote:
KW, DD, LD, DG, IV, PA, TR, BH, AB, DT, PL, NR, PH, SA, LL, CT, TQ, EX

Deliveries to the above areas will take longer to arrange with the delivery company and run to a longer time-frame (delivery within 14 days rather than 7). As a result, I would advise customers in these locations to place an order no later than Monday 22nd October.

When Ordering Sofa Beds:

Our Cuba and Panama sofa beds are always popular around Christmas. They are the perfect choice for customers looking for a versatile bed base to give Christmas visitors a comfortable nights sleep. We now keep theses bases as stock items (they are batch produced every few months, so check the website for stock numbers), leaving only the futon to be made to order. The futon mattress currently has a lead time of 4 weeks. Monday 19th November is the cut-off date to work to here (for remote area customers Monday 5th November is the date to remember).

Black Lotus Furniture:

Speaking of batch produced furniture that we now keep in stock, our range of Black Lotus furniture in oak and walnut remains as popular as ever and available on a lead time of just one week. You can take your time picking out the perfect chest of drawers or bedside table, just remember to place your order no later than the week of 10th December (Monday 26th November for remote area customers).

Mattresses:

If you’re looking to refresh a guest bedroom or just fancy a change yourself, we aim to keep stock of our range of mattresses in standard UK double (135x190cm), king (150x200cm) and super-king (180x200cm) for all models excluding the Craft and futon mattresses. These run to a 2 week and 4 week manufacturing lead time respectively.

Regarding cut off dates, we send our futons and the Craft mattresses on the same 2 man, room of choice services as our bed bases, which can take a little while to arrange. As a result, I would recommend ordering a futon mattress no later than Monday 19th November (Monday 5th November if you require delivery to a remote area) and a Craft no later than Monday 3rd December (Monday 19th November for those in remote areas).

For all other mattresses, we can safely send these on a 1 man, overnight service. As long as we have your required size and model in stock, these can be sent up until Tuesday 18th December.

If we do not have your required mattress in stock and ready to despatch, it can take 3-4 weeks after an order is placed for the mattress to be delivered to us. Please keep this in mind if you are interested in a small single (75x190cm), standard single (90x190cm), three-quarter (120x190cm) or Euro-king (160x200cm) mattress – as these less popular sizes are less likely to be held in stock.

If you place an order with us after the cut-off dates mentioned above, please be aware that Domestic Distribution does close down over Christmas, with no deliveries taking place from Christmas Eve to the first week of January. This can add up to a week on to our usual lead time.

Please note that all dates mentioned above are estimates based on the average number of orders received in previous years and the limits of our production schedule. If we receive a higher volume of orders than expected, this will affect our cut off dates, bringing them forward. So – to be on the safe side – if you want your beautiful new bed for the festive season – please consider ordering soon!
