Derived from eucalyptus wood, Tencel is a natural material. Crafted from cellulose, a raw natural fibre, it is grown on marginal land (not used for food crops) in sustainable forestry. Via an elaborate process, the cellulose is turned into Tencel fibres using a low-energy method. This process keeps all chemicals within a closed loop system, and was also awarded the ‘European Award for the Environment’ by the EU.
Tencel fibre is biodegradable and recognised by GOTS.
With a super smooth texture and stable structure, Tencel also has an excellent capacity to absorb moisture. Furthermore, it retains warmth even better than cotton and is ideal for those suffering from allergies. The convenience of synthetic fibres with the comfort and health benefits of natural fibres, all rolled into one.
