Ordering Process

Learn how to place an order and what payment options are available.

How can I place an order?

You can place an order directly on our website, by phone, via email, or by visiting our showroom in Sheffield. If you’re in the area, we’d love to meet you in person and help with your selection.

Can I place an order for delivery outside of mainland UK?

Yes, you can! We have sent out our beds and bedside tables to customers across the globe. Unfortunately, due to current GPSR regulations we can only send items we make ourselves outside of mainland UK. If you are interested in buying a bed frame, or another piece of furniture we make, read our international orders FAQ page for more information.

What payment options are available?

We accept payments via credit/debit card or cash. You can pay in-store, over the phone or by payment link which we can provide via email upon request. For standard orders a 10% deposit is required. A 50% deposit is required for international and custom orders. The balance needs to be paid by the Friday prior to despatch. Orders placed via the website are paid in full at the point of ordering, so if you’d rather pay a deposit please get in touch.

Lead Times

Find out how long it takes to receive your order.

What are your lead times?

Bed Frames: Usually around 8 weeks. This can vary throughout the year, so please get in touch if you’d like to know our current lead time.

Other Furniture: Bedside tables and under-bed drawers made by us have the same lead time as our beds. Furniture from other manufacturers can be despatched in as little as one week, depending on the individual item and current stock levels. Please see product pages for more information.

Mattresses: 2–8 weeks, depending on the model. Please check the specific mattress product pages for more detailed information.

Bedding & Accessories: Typically, up to one week. We also offer expedited delivery for an extra charge.
While we strive to get your order to you as soon as possible, because many of our items are handmade to order, production can take some time.

Can orders be rushed?

As our bed frames are made to order, and we work on a queue basis, with new orders joining the back of the queue, it is not usually possible to rush a new order. However, we sometimes have stock beds available. You can see them here. Please note, as these beds are pre-made, they cannot be customised or altered.

Materials & Sustainability

Learn about the sustainable and natural materials we use in our products.

Do you use sustainable or ethically sourced materials?

Yes! We prioritise sustainability in all our products. We use sustainably sourced hardwoods, such as oak, walnut, beech, ash, and maple, and our mattresses feature organic and natural fillings like wool, cotton, and flax.

What natural materials are used in your mattresses?

Our mattresses feature natural materials such as wool, cotton, and flax, and natural latex, most of which are F.R chemical-free. These materials provide comfort and support while maintaining eco-friendly standards.

How do you ensure product quality?

We stand by the quality of our craftsmanship, offering a **12-year warranty** on bed frames and a **10-year guarantee** on many of our mattresses. Please see product pages for more details.

All Natural Bed Company made products are handmade in the Sheffield with care and attention to detail, ensuring long-lasting, high-quality furniture.

Craftsmanship & Customisation

Learn more about our expert craftsmanship and how we can tailor our products to your needs.

Are Natural Bed Company beds made from solid timber?

Yes, we don’t use veneered materials for our bed frames. You can learn more about our timbers here

What kind of craftsmanship goes into your beds?

Our bed frames are crafted by a team of skilled woodworkers in Sheffield using solid timber and traditional woodworking techniques. We pride ourselves on the quality of craftsmanship and the unique nature of each piece we create.

Can I request a custom design?

Yes, we can often accommodate custom designs depending on our production schedule. If you have a specific idea in mind, please contact us to discuss your vision, and we’ll help you bring it to life.

Can you guarantee what the timber will look like?

We often get requests to make beds without knots, or with specific tones to the timber. Unfortunately, this isn’t something that we can guarantee. All timbers are subject to natural variations. It is never possible to guarantee the exact look of any timber and it is reasonable to expect variations across different sections of your bed. To avoid wastage, we only order the timber that we need for each order, this means that while our workshop will try their best to match each section, some variation is to be expected. If you want a certain tone or look to your bed, we’re happy to advise on the different characteristics of each option. You can learn more about our timbers here

Delivery & Storage

Everything you need to know about delivery options and storage services.

What is the delivery process once my product is ready?

Once your order is complete, we will contact you to schedule despatch. Larger bed frames are delivered flat-packed for easy assembly. Someone must be available to receive the delivery. If you prefer a different delivery arrangement, please let us know in advance.

Will my bed arrive flat packed?

Yes, most of our bed frames come in 2-4 boxes. Assembly is very straightforward. You can find instructions here. Our couriers do offer an assembly service for an extra fee. Please get in touch to find out more.

Do you offer storage if I can’t accept delivery immediately?

Yes! We provide up to 4 weeks of free storage. After that, there is a small storage fee of £10 per week per item which will need to be paid prior to despatch. Please let us know if you need to store your items before delivery.

Handling Damage & Returns

Get information about how we handle damage, returns, and exchanges.

What if my order arrives damaged?

If you notice any visible damage to the packaging, please refuse delivery and ask the courier to return the item. If the product is damaged upon unpacking, report it within 3 days. We may offer a replacement or refund, depending on your preference.

Can I return my order if I’m not happy?

We cannot accept returns of mattresses that have been unpacked, and/or slept on unless they are faulty.
If your product is faulty or damaged, we’ll arrange for an exchange or refund.

If your order arrives in good condition, but you still wish to make a return, it will be subject to charges, you can find out more by reading our terms and conditions here.

General Questions

Here are a few other common questions to help you make the best purchase decision.

Can I visit the showroom?

Yes, we’d love to meet you. The showroom is open Monday – Saturday between 10am and 5:30pm. We advise taking plenty of time, especially if you are looking at mattresses.

Can I try mattresses?

Yes, in fact, we highly recommend it. Come in, take your shoes off, pull the bedding back and have a good lie down, trying to replicate your natural sleep position as closely as possible.

What should I check before placing my order?

Size & Specifications: Double-check your chosen bed size, wood type, and finish, as these affect production and delivery timelines if they need to be changed.

Request a Timber Sample: can’t decide between timbers? Find out more on our About Out Timbers page and request free samples of any of the timber options of interest.

If you are looking for a bed with an upholstered headboard you can contact us to order fabric swatches.

Access to Delivery Location: Ensure there’s enough space for delivery, especially for larger bed frames. Measure doorways and staircases before placing your order. Contact us to find out the approximate sizes of the boxes your flat-pack bed will be delivered in.

Mattress & Bed Compatibility: Verify that your chosen bed frame fits the mattress you want to use. If you’re unsure, our team is here to assist.
