We have a lot of enquiries regarding international orders. Customers from across the globe are interested in ordering our exclusive collection of beds and bedroom furniture and get in touch with various questions. So we thought we would collate the most frequenty posed questions and answer them all here:
Q: Can I place my order online with a delivery address outside the mainland UK?
A: If you wish to order for delivery outside the UK mainland then the order must be placed over the phone or by e-mail (sorry, but our website will only accept delivery addresses with a UK mainland postcode). This is beacuse we will need to provide you with a quote for delivery prior to placing the order and, depending on the delivery address, we may be able to take the UK sales tax (VAT) off the price you are charged.
Please just let us now which item/s you are interested in including – model, size, and timber and provide the full delivery address. We will then get back to you with a quotation and confirmation of the current lead-time. Please see our International Orders Blog for further inforation. Payment can then be made over the phone with a credit or debit card, or by bank transfer.
Q: Do you ship your products over-seas?
A: Yes! We can ship the majority of our products globally including our beds, bedding some bedroom furniture. Unfortunately, we cannot send our mattresses and large bedroom storage items over-seas at this time.
Q: I need a ‘non-UK standard’ sized bed, is this possible?
A: As all bed bases are handmade to order, we can make any of our designs to non-UK sizes! Please just let us know the size of the bed your require e.g. a US King, Australian Queen, etc. and we can get a quote together for you. (Please provide the dimensions required, rather than just the name – in cm if possible – as there can be some variety in what people mean by a king, queen or emperor size beds etc.)
Please note than any bed made wider than 180cm will not include our standard Beech sprung slats, but will be provided with solid Pine slats. Extra large beds may require two centre rails and/or an additional leg. Please contact us for further details and check out our blog on US and European bed sizes.
Q: How much will I pay for international shipping?
A: International shipping rates vary depending on which item/s you are considering ordering and where you need them delivering to, it is not possible for us to specify a flat rate for certain products/locations. To get a quote, please see our International Orders Blog, which explains all the information we would need to get a shipping price for you!
Q: Will I have to pay customs?
A: Certain countries do charge additional customs fees and independent carrier charges. Natural Bed Company cannot anticipate these costs and therefore will not be able to reimburse your for any additional fees that may be charged. Before placing your order, we would recommend you contact your local customs office to enquire what kind of fees you can expect.
Q: Can you designate my order as a gift so I don’t have to pay customs?
A: Sorry – we are not able to mark any shipments as gifts; all orders will be processed as sales.
Q: How long does delivery take?
A: All of our bed bases are hand made to order and can take approximately 5-7 weeks depending on our current lead times (this can be 8+ weeks in very busy periods), in stock furniture can be dispatched within the same week that the order is placed. Furniture deliveries take approximately 3-5 working days to be delivered, depending on customs etc. Once the goods have been collected from our workshop and processed by the courier we can pass along tracking details to you.
Most bedding and furniture items that are in stock can be dispatched within 48 hours of the order being placed, delivery is usually within 3-5 working days.
Q: Can I return my order once it has arrived?
A: If you decide you would no longer like to keep your order once it has arrived you can return the order – this is subject to our standard returns policy, please see our Terms and Conditions for the full details. Please note that international returns are often more expensive than the initial delivery (they are considered to be collections from domestic premises which often incur extra costs). We are happy to provide a quote for you on request.
Q: What if my order arrives damaged?
A: All items are packed to the highest standard with protective packaging and handled with the utmost care, if in the unlikely event that your item arrived damaged we would be more than happy to help! Please note: damage discovered after unpacking must be reported within 3 days of delivery, we cannot accept liability for claims made after that date.
Q: Could I arrange my own shipping?
A: Yes! If you would like to arrange your own courier to collect your order please let us know and we will be able to provide all the details needed for you to get your own quote.
Please note, in this circumstance, we are required to charge VAT for all orders, but this will be refunded when you/your carriers provide us with proof of export if shipping outside of the EU. NB: you may then be required to pay your local rate of sales tax and any other relevant taxes (import duties etc).
