About Tog Ratings:
These luxury down duvets are all given tog ratings. Essentially, the higher the tog – the warmer the duvet. The tog you choose depends on how warm your bedroom is. You should also take into account how warm a person you are, the warmth of your mattress and the thickness of your duvet cover.
4.5-6 tog is appropriate for summer use, and for a warmer-blooded person throughout most of the year. A good choice to use with our memory foam and Waterlattex mattresses. Add a quilted bedspread and blankets on the coldest nights.
9-10.5 tog down-filled duvets are perfect for a cooler room throughout the year. Add a quilted bedspread on the coldest nights.
13.5 tog duvets suit a cold bedroom and cold winters. Although this is the most frequently purchased tog rating, for many people (for much of the time) it may well be too warm, especially during milder winters.
All Season duvets combine a 3 tog and 9 tog duvet with the option to clip them together for use in winter (resulting in the feel of a 12 tog duvet). Use the 9 tog alone in spring and autumn, use the 3 tog duvet alone in the summer. This is your most flexible, luxury option.
- To prevent any damage to the product and ensure proper re-fluffing after washing/drying, the washing machine or the tumble dryer should be filled only to a maximum 25% of its total load capacity!
- Washing should be done at a temperature of 40°C in a “gentle washing” mode for approx. 15-20 minutes. Afterwards rinse 4 times without any detergents; each rinsing cycle having a duration of approx. 5 minutes. The third and fourth cycle should be done with a high water level. After completion of the fourth cycle, spin the product at a high rotation speed.
- Only mild detergents should be used and the dosage kept to a minimum (max. 30 cubic-centimetres per kilogram). Detergents must be rinsed-out completely or the filling materials may stick together during the drying process.
- To ensure best possible results drying must be executed very cautiously and NOT at a temperature exceeding 60°C. The drum of the dryer has to oscillate (the direction of rotation has to change randomly) during the drying process. It is of importance to carefully attend to these guidelines as any deviation could have a highly negative impact on the product (shrinkage, but also clumping of the filling)!
The manufacturer fully supports animal welfare and does not tolerate cruelty to animals. All their materials are by-products of raising animals for the meat industry. They ensure all animals are treated well, and completely exclude any stuff feeding or moult plucking of birds. They require all vendors to document their complete supply chain sources all the way to the farm, in order to minimize any risk. They are working with internationally accredited institutions and auditors to investigate at every step, the quality of raw material, and to minimize or exclude any risk altogether.
They do not accept materials from vendors who are on the negative-list of important animal welfare organisations such as “PETA”, “Vier Pfoten”, etc. They work hard to keep this one of the most beautiful, cleanest, all-natural and traditional products clean and good – such that you can rightfully enjoy the best sleep.
