The Organic Cotton & Kapok Filled Duvet has an organic cotton case, and is filled with 50% organic cotton and 50% kapok. A luxurious vegan duvet. Kapok is also known as ‘plant-down’ due to its silky, fly-away quality. It is a cotton-like, fluffy fibre obtained from the seed pods of the Ceiba Pentandra tree. Kapok is a hollow fibre with great warmth retention capacity. It is also naturally disliked by dust mites.
Prices include P&P within the mainland UK. Standard delivery within 3-5 working days.
A natural, luxurious feel, this organic cotton and Kapok filled duvet boasts an entirely plant-based filling. Half kapok and half cotton, this duvet has a lofty, fluffy feeling similar to feather duvets.
At approx. 8-9 tog, it is suitable for year-round use and features a ‘mummy’ style quilting pattern. Wider at the top and narrowing towards the feet, this quilting gives the duvet more drape and means it can better ‘envelop’ the sleeper, reducing draughts. Furthermore, this cotton and kapok filled duvet is equipped with cotton ties to the corners; it can be combined with another for additional warmth if required.
8-9 tog | 500gsm
Outer: 100% organic cotton Inner: 50% cotton, 50% kapok
*Please note, these duvets are cut generously, as there can be an initial shrinkage after the first few weeks of use. This is due to the heat and also moisture generated during sleep causing the duvet to contract slightly.
Obtained from the seed pods of the Ceiba Pentandra tree, kapok is a hollow fibre with excellent warmth retention. Kapok grows wild in tropical forests and without the need for pesticides. Also known as ‘plant down’, kapok has a silky, fly-away texture, creating a lofty, fluffy fibre.
Harvested from pre-existing trees, kapok is a vital trade for economies where they grow. Therefore, they are not felled for harvesting, helping to preserve tropical forests. Furthermore, kapok fibres contain naturally occurring, bitter compounds which are unattractive to dust mites and other insects. Naturally coated with a type of wax, the fibres also ensure that no moisture is retained or absorbed, helping your duvet to stay dry.
