Christmas Bedrooms – Preparing for the Holidays.

Here we take a look at our ideas to help you create the perfect Christmas bedroom, from choosing cosy bedding for yourself to accessories for a dream guest bedroom.

Creating a Cosy Christmas Bedroom

The holidays are a great excuse for updating your bedding to ensure a luxurious start to your Christmas morning. We have bedding in a wide range of styles and fabrics, just find the collection to suit the look of your room. Linen bedding is a great choice as linen has natural heat-regulating qualities which makes it feel pleasantly cool on a hot day and warm and cosy in cooler weather. Linen bedding has a relaxed and slightly rumpled look for low-key luxury.

For a wonderfully snuggly bed I can personally recommend our brushed cotton bedding – it’s so soft and warm. In pale grey brushed cotton with linen edging in lime or charcoal, this bedding also looks modern and stylish. Add a knitted or faux fur throw to complete the scheme (I use a Soft & Cosy blanket).

As the evenings turn cold you may want to change your duvet for a higher tog rating, or add a quilted bedspread over your duvet (an extra bedspread or throw is easy to put to one side if the weather turns milder). The latest additions to our range of quilts are just stunning -reversible linen and velvet quilts that are available in jade, indigo or blush pink velvet with a neutral limestone colour linen to the reverse. The mix of fashionable colours in velvet and neutral linen will ensure they suit a variety of looks and work with many bedding styles.

We have lots of new bedding in our collection just added over the past couple of months, our latest additions feature prints created by British artist Donna Wilson. These quirky, modern prints are perfect for Christmas – I think the Flying Bird and Single Tree duvet sets are particularly appropriate for the holidays. If you prefer a more classic look take a look at our new linen bedding: Vintage Print – in blush pink with a charcoal floral print – or Vintage Wash bedding in silver grey or limestone (a very pale ecru colour).

If you prefer classic white bedding we still have many options to choose from including 1000 thread count bedding, waffle look bedding and hemstitch linen blend bedding in ivory.

This is a great time to treat yourself to some new nightwear too. We have a range of nightshirts and pyjamas, along with slippers and robes for men and women. Like our bedding we have nightwear and robes in both soft pure cotton and luxurious pure linen fabrics.

Our  nightwear and slippers make great Christmas gifts too so it’s well worth taking a look. If you are in the mood to treat yourself, or your loved ones, take a look at our range of hot-water bottles too. We have classic hot water bottles and scented wheat bags with faux fur covers, or hot water bottles with contemporary canvas covers from Meraki at just £12 including P&P. Looking for something different? Take a look at our luxury YuYu hot-water bottles, these narrow, extra long hot-water bottles can wrap around the body to soothe aches and pains or, as they are over 80cm long, they can be used to keep you toasty warm (not just your toes!). We have a range  of YuYu bottles available, some gift sets also include an eye-mask to ensure a good nights sleep.

All You Need for a Dream Guest Bedroom

Fresh bedding, towels and a few finishing touches are all you need to create a luxurious guest bedroom and ensure your guests will feel pampered when staying over the Christmas period.

Fresh white bedding is a great choice for guest bedding – it will go with any colour scheme and everyone likes it. Add a little interest with embroidered details – such as our Alyssa Bedding, Hemstitch Bedding or the Diamond Embroidered Bedding Collection – or select a higher thread count for extra softness (try our 600 thread count cotton bedding). Concerned that the mattress has seen better days? The solution depends on it’s condition – if it’s no longer supportive we would recommend a new mattress, but if it’s just in need of a refresh I suggest taking a look at a mattress topper or protector. I recently invested in an organic cotton and wool topper, it’s now even harder to get out of bed as it’s so comfy! We have a range of mattresses in stock, a selection of mattress toppers and mattress protectors so you’re sure to find the solution you need.

To make your guest room look cosy and stylish, layer over your duvet a quilted bedspread and/or a soft faux fur or wool throw. This will enable your guests to add an extra layer of bedding for warmth on colder nights without feeling that they are bothering their hosts. Our soft and cosy throws are available in a range of colours, are incredibly soft and are just £35 each.

Your guests will also appreciate somewhere to store items during their stay. If you can clear a little space in your guest bedroom to accommodate some storage your guests will thanks you and your guest room will stay looking tidy and hotel like. We have a range of Black Lotus drawer units, in oak or walnut, kept in stock and available for relatively speedy delivery. We also have a modern timber clothes rail available – perfect for just this purpose.

The Finishing Touches…

A stack of fresh towels and a scented candle or room diffuser will give your guest room a boutique hotel feel. A small vase of fresh flowers and a jar with a few small toiletries will really make your guests feel pampered. We have a wide range of luxury towels and stylish room scents available online and in-store.
