In this blog we’ll take a look at the range of oak bedroom furniture designed and made by Ethnicraft. Bedside tables, chests of drawers, chairs and dressing tables – the Ethnicraft oak collection has a range of bedroom furniture that works well with our collection of handmade oak beds.

Bedside Tables

The Ethnicraft range of bedside tables in oak are available in a wide range of styles so you are sure to find one to suit your needs.

The Spindle bedside table shown here has a single drawer and upper glass top. The softly curved legs of this design means that it has been a popular choice for customers who have ordered an oak bed from our Camden range of beds: including the Hoxton, Camden, Carnaby, Pimlico and Bloomsbury beds.

As you can see from the images below there are so many styles to choose from! The Madra is a very low table with a handy deep drawer – this model looks great with the Kulu and Ki beds, but also suits our Kyoto bed range too.
The Air bedside table has a more ‘mid-century modern’ feel and works well with our contemporary low beds such as the Sonora or Iona beds.
The Monolit range is a favourite with our contemporary design conscious clients. Monolit bedside tables are available in light oak or oak stained black. The oak drawer and top is complemented by a modern, square section metal frame. Our minimalist bed designs sit well with these ultra modern Ethnicraft bedside tables.
If you are looking for something more sculptural try the beautifully carved Geometric tables or Twist tables.

Dressing Tables, Console Tables & Desks

It’s often difficult to find a stylish, contemporary dressing table. Luckily Ethnicraft have a range of desks and console tables that are perfectly suited to this purpose. Just add a Magnify mirror and a table lamp!

The Whitebird and Blackbird desks have two drawers within an oak frame (in light oak or black stained oak), held on a black metal base. These modern tables work with any of our oak beds (with a natural or black finish).
The Monolit range of oak and metal furniture includes a console table with two drawers and a lower shelf. The Nordic console similarly benefits from a clean, modernist design with handy storage drawers. Use either console table with an Osso stool, or one of our wool covered stools from Shepherd, as an ocassional, elegant dressing table.

The contemporary Frame (shown here) and Wave desks are also popular pieces in the ethnicraft oak collection. They work well with the Ethnicraft Bok and Facette chairs – depending on whether you prefer a more mid century look (the Bok) or ultra modern style (the Facette). The Frame desk suits our nevada range of beds (includes the Nevada, Sahara, Malabar and Bamford beds), while the minimalism of the Wave desk suits our Japanese style beds.

Bedroom Storage Solutions from the Ethnicraft oak collection

Cupbords, chests of drawers and low media units are all available within the Ethnicraft collection.

The Monolit range (some of the range is pictured here with our Camden bed in ash) includes a two door cabinet and a low unit with a flip-down door and one oak drawer. This low cupboard can be used as a media unit or end-of-bed storage unit. This collection works well with any contemporary bedroom scheme.

If you are looking for a wide cupboard/sideboard style unit – try the Nordic, Whitebird and Blackbird collections. These large storage units will be sure to keep the clutter at bay. The Nordic range, like the Monolit collection, also includes a low media/end-of-bed unit along with a chest of drawers. Clean and elegant in design – the Nordic storage units will work well with any of our contemporary oak (or even ash) beds. We particulrly like to use this range with our Orchid or Kelham modern four-poster beds.

The Ligna cupboard is a useful, flexible option as it has two slim, upper drawers and two cupboard below, supported on a metal base in chrome or black. It is a great choice to use with our Malabar or Sahara beds.

Ethnicraft use French and Serbian oak sourced from managed forests in Europe. The oak is finished with a pigmented hardwax oil.
If ordering Ethnicraft oak furniture with a Natural Bed Company oak bed – please note that, though we feel this range works really well with our beds, Ethnicraft furniture has a slightly different finish to our own furniture. The Ethnicraft finish is very matte in appearance and slightly lighter than our oak furniture with our ‘natural’ lacquer finish. Ethnicraft also have a more rustic, slightly less polished finish than we aim for at Natural Bed Company.
