Less is more! The simple, sculptural design of the low Kulu platform bed makes the most of the solid oak it’s crafted from. This combination of a natural finish with elements stained almost matte black makes for a unique option for your bed base. It’s shown here in solid Oak in various colour-ways.
The Black Oak Kulu is available in the following variations: Option 1 – Solid oak – all stained black (bed base, headboard and side tables) Option 2 – Solid oak – the base and headboard are stained black with oak side tables in a natural finish (see the third image in the gallery) Option 3 – Solid oak – the base and tables are in natural oak, the oak headboard is stained black (see the main image above)

The Black Oak Kulu is a modern platform bed. Pictured here in solid oak, it offers the option to stain various elements with a soft, almost matte black lacquer. You can choose to stain the entire bed for a highly contemporary look, or leave the fixed bedside table platforms in the natural oak finish to draw attention to this detail. Our favourite combo? A natural oak base and side tables, with the headboard element stained black. The choice is yours!
Every bed is made to order. Our lead-time is usually around 8 weeks (+ delivery). This can fluctuate throughout the year, please do get in touch for the most up to date information.
The fixed side tables make a handy space for your bedtime reading or an alarm clock. Each fixed side-table measures 24 x 35cm. The price includes a pair.

Our ‘natural’ look lacquer finish, named for its clarity, allows you to appreciate the myriad colours and subtle variations in tone of natural timber. It retains a very subtle, soft sheen which protects the timber from grease marks and some stains.
All our platform wooden beds come with sprung beech slats for extra comfort and to increase the life of your mattress.

We have a small workshop in Sheffield where all of our beds and the furniture made by us are hand crafted by our skilled woodworkers.

Yes! Most of our handmade items can be tweaked with a variety of customisations. Please get in touch with our friendly sales team with your idea and we’ll let you know what is possible and provide a bespoke quote.
All of our bed bases are delivered flat pack for easy self assembly - we include our full range of assembly instructions online so you can see how straight forward this is! All of our tables are delivered as one piece, so no assembly would be required. Our under-bed drawers simply require the small castors screwing into place.
Our showroom is based in Sheffield city centre. We try to keep a variety of designs and timber son display, but if you’re hoping to see something specific, please do get in touch before your visit.
