The Cochin is a timeless classic bed, inspired by mid-century design. This bed base boasts a large headboard panel, which allows the natural tones and grains of timber to take centre stage. It also features tapered legs and a tall base, giving it a grand, proud look. The Cochin is available to order here in your choice of size and our full range of timbers. You can also find elegant, matching Cochin bedside tables; pictured above with the bed in solid oak.
Ash, walnut or oak are ideal timbers for the Cochin. This is due to the fact that the different directions of the grain on the legs and headboard make for an interesting detail. All our beds come with sprung beech slats as standard; both for extra comfort and to increase the life of your mattress.
Every bed is made to order. Our lead-time is usually around 8 weeks (+ delivery). This can fluctuate throughout the year, please do get in touch for the most up to date information.
Our ‘natural’ look lacquer finish, named for its clarity, allows you to appreciate the myriad colours and subtle variations in tone of natural timber. It retains a very subtle, soft sheen which protects the timber from grease marks and some stains.

If you have a much deeper mattress than this, we can customise the design by adding to height of the headboard legs and raising the position of the headboard panel. This customisation may incur an additional cost depending on the adjustment required, which varies depending on the size and timber. If you wish to add this customisation to the headboard panel, please use the 'ask us more' tab above to request a quote before proceeding with an order.

Please note: ‘Clear Pine’ is finished in our standard, natural-look lacquer. ‘Sanded Pine’ does not have any lacquer/finish at all. They do not look any different from one another, but the ‘sanded’ option does feel slightly rougher to the touch.

Outside of the Sheffield area, we use a carrier. Delivery is arranged with the carrier once your order is ready, and will be on an agreed day and time slot.
Within the Sheffield area, we deliver using our own vehicle. Once your order is ready to be delivered, we will contact you to arrange a delivery date and time slot.

This bed was a fantastic decision to buy. The whole process of dealing with the Natural Bed company from the start to the finish was seamless, hassle free and easy. Our bed was made by one man called Tom and his workmanship is faultless. The bed is the most comfortable piece of kit I have ever slept on. It is masterfully designed, the height of it perfect to get out of… The only problem is getting out of it in the morning. I simply don’t want to.
It was very easy to construct. It is perfect in every way and I thank the natural bed company for their professionalism and expertise.
