Our much loved Kyoto bed, but available here in special edition Scottish Elm timber. Locally-sourced from Albion Timber in a unique collaboration. Like all our beds, this special run of Kyoto beds are made by hand in our Sheffield workshop.
Available in UK Double (135x190cm), King (150x200cm) and Super-King size (180x200cm).
Every bed is made to order. Our lead-time is usually around 8 weeks (+ delivery). The stock levels noted below indicate the timber in stock to make the sizes available.
One of our most popular – and most long-running – designs, the Kyoto is a minimal, Japanese style bed frame with plank legs and a low, almost floating profile. Crafted by hand in our Sheffield workshop, this special edition batch of Double (135x190cm), King-size (150x200cm) and Super-King (180x200cm) models are made from locally-sourced Scottish Elm from Albion Timber.
Scottish Elm is a beautifully wild, characterful timber. It is possible to see a variety of tones within this warm, mid-brown timber such as deeper brown, touches of pink and green, all of which will deepen slightly with time. Visually, the grain is fairly tight and twisted, providing plenty of interesting pattern and variety. As with our English Oak bed bases, the grain features knots and burrs due to the natural growing conditions in Northern Scotland. You can read more on this timber within our
Our ‘natural’ look lacquer finish, named for its clarity, allows you to appreciate the myriad colours and subtle variations in the tone of natural timber. It also retains a very subtle, soft sheen which protects the timber from grease marks and some stains.
All our wooden beds are fitted as standard with sprung beech slats for extra comfort, and to also help increase the life of your mattress.

Approx. self assembly time: 20-30 minutes
Mattress Depth Information: Due to its low headboard and minimal profile, the Kyoto is best suited for use with mattresses that are 20cm deep or less, and it is pictured above with 18 - 20cm deep mattresses.
If you have a deeper mattress than this, we can customise the Kyoto slightly by adding a maximum of 5cm to the headboard panel. This customisation does incur an additional cost, which varies depending on the size and timber. Please contact us for a quote if you would like to purchase a Kyoto with a customised headboard panel.

Outside of the Sheffield area, we use a carrier. Delivery is arranged with the carrier once your order is ready, and will be on an agreed day and time slot.

We have a small workshop in Sheffield where all of our beds and the furniture made by us are hand crafted by our skilled woodworkers.

Yes! Most of our handmade items can be tweaked with a variety of customisations. Please get in touch with our friendly sales team with your idea and we’ll let you know what is possible and provide a bespoke quote.
All of our bed bases are delivered flat pack for easy self assembly - we include our full range of assembly instructions online so you can see how straight forward this is! All of our tables are delivered as one piece, so no assembly would be required. Our under-bed drawers simply require the small castors screwing into place.
Our showroom is based in Sheffield city centre. We try to keep a variety of designs and timber son display, but if you’re hoping to see something specific, please do get in touch before your visit.
