The Kobe is ideal for those looking to achieve a simplistic, oriental style. Its extra-low design makes it appear to float above the floor, due to the solid inset legs. If you’re looking for a really minimalist bed, you can also order the Kobe without a headboard. This also makes it a perfect bed to go for if you’re using a wall-mounted headboard.

Simple and stylish, the Kobe is a contemporary Japanese style bed, and you can find it here with a headboard. The Kobe is the lowest in our family of Japanese style beds. Each of these low beds have differing heights, but all are in keeping with that minimalist Oriental look. You can see the Kobe above in a kingsize in sanded pine. Every bed is made to order. Our lead-time is usually around 8 weeks (+ delivery). This can fluctuate throughout the year, please do get in touch for the most up to date information.
Our ‘natural’ look lacquer finish, named for its clarity, allows you to appreciate the myriad colours and subtle variations in tone of natural timber. It retains a very subtle, soft sheen which protects the timber from grease marks and some stains.
All our wooden beds are fitted as standard with sprung beech slats for extra comfort, and to also help increase the life of your mattress.

Mattress Depth Information: Due to its low headboard and minimal profile, the Kobe is best suited for use with mattresses that are 20cm deep or less, and it is pictured above with 18 - 20cm deep mattresses.
If you have a much deeper mattress than this, we can customise the Kobe slightly by adding a maximum of 5cm to the headboard panel. This customisation does incur an additional cost, which varies depending on the size and timber. If you wish to add this customisation to the headboard panel, please use the 'ask us more' tab above to request a quote before proceeding with an order.

Please note: ‘Clear Pine’ is finished in our standard, natural-look lacquer. ‘Sanded Pine’ does not have any lacquer/finish at all. They do not look any different from one another, but the ‘sanded’ option does feel slightly rougher to the touch.

Lead in times: our bed bases (and a select few furniture items) are hand made to order in our Sheffield workshop. The lead in time is usually 8 weeks (+ delivery), which can fluctuate throughout the year – get in touch for the latest info. Please note that ex-display/stock beds, sofa beds, mattresses and some Ethnicraft furniture have differing lead in times, which you will find noted in the description above.
Outside of the Sheffield area, we use a national carrier called BJS. You will be provided an estimated despatch date shortly after your order is placed, and the courier will be in touch with you directly to arrange the delivery date and time slot after they have collected your order.
For customers based in Sheffield, we usually perform delivery in our own vehicle. However, some items are excluded and will instead be shipped with our standard courier, BJS.

We despatch all of our small items via Royal Mail or ParcelForce. Prices include delivery to mainland UK with an aim to deliver within 3-5 working days.
You can opt for an expedited service, if you would prefer. You can select this option for an additional cost at checkout, which then aims to deliver within 1-2 working days.
Please note, we process and pack orders Monday-Saturday between 10am-5pm, excluding bank holidays. We aim to process orders as soon as possible, with collection booked to occur the day after processing.

Yes! Most of our handmade items can be tweaked with a variety of customisations. Please get in touch with our friendly sales team with your idea and we’ll let you know what is possible and provide a bespoke quote.
All of our bed bases are delivered flat pack for easy self assembly - we include our full range of assembly instructions online so you can see how straight forward this is! All of our tables are delivered as one piece, so no assembly would be required. Our under-bed drawers simply require the small castors screwing into place.
Our showroom is based in Sheffield city centre. We try to keep a variety of designs and timber son display, but if you’re hoping to see something specific, please do get in touch before your visit.
