The Kyoto is our most popular low, Japanese style bed. Perfect for a minimal Oriental inspired bedroom. Similar to our Kumo bed, the Kyoto is 5cm taller. This makes ample space for under-bed drawers, which can be ordered here on our website. Under-bed drawers are a great option if you want to keep the clutter at bay, but still preserve that minimal look!

Our Kyoto bed is our most popular low bed. Inspired by traditional Japanese styling, the Kyoto has a truly Oriental feel. The Kyoto is shown photographed here in solid oak and beech, but is available in our full range of timbers. Take a look at our timbers page for more information and to order timber samples.
Also a great option for loft spaces or low-ceiling rooms; the Kyoto’s compact footprint leaves you with real estate to play with. You can order the Kyoto here with a headboard, or without a headboard if you prefer.
Like the style of the Kyoto bed, but prefer a lower bed base? Take a look at the Kumo and Kobe beds; variations on the original Kyoto design. Or, for a slightly more loft style look, try the Oregon bed.
You can also find matching tables in the form of the Kyoto Shelf table and Kyoto Drawer table. You can order these separately, to complete your room set.
Every bed is made to order. Our current lead-time is around 8 weeks (+ delivery).
Our ‘natural’ look lacquer finish, named for its clarity, allows you to appreciate the myriad colours and subtle variations in tone of natural timber. It retains a very subtle, soft sheen which also protects the timber from grease marks and some stains.
All our wooden beds are fitted as standard with sprung beech slats for extra comfort, and to also help increase the life of your mattress.

Mattress Depth Information: Due to its low headboard and minimal profile, the Kyoto is best suited for use with mattresses that are 20cm deep or less, and it is pictured above with 18 - 20cm deep mattresses.
If you have a deeper mattress than this, we can customise the Kyoto slightly by adding a maximum of 5cm to the headboard panel. This customisation does incur an additional cost, which varies depending on the size and timber. If you wish to add this customisation to the headboard panel, please use the 'ask us more' tab above to request a quote before proceeding with an order.

Very happy with our bed. Chose ash and like it very much. It’s definitely worth going to the shop to see the different frames and woods. I hadn’t been thinking of ash till I saw it properly. You can fit drawers under Kyoto – v useful. Assembly is very easy and delivery was no trouble to arrange.

We bought the Kyoto superking size with headboard in Beech and are super happy with our choice. So easy to assemble and the wood is very neutral – overall very elegant. We did a lot of research into superking beds and the NBC definitely has the best quality and design for the cost. Customer service was great although our bed did take a little longer to make due to the summer period.

Kyoto king size with headboard in pine – this is a simple and beautiful design, easy to put together and sturdy without being bulky. The pine has a clear lacquer which gives it a subtle finish. The delivery was as promised and we were kept informed throughout. Quality sprung slats give real support and comfort. What’s not to like!

While the lead time was long-ish, the bed was delivered exactly when it was promised. The build quality is top notch and the bed looks just as stunning as we hoped. Easy assembly job with great instructions that are simple to follow. Premium price, but then it is a premium product that will probably outlast us. Couldn’t be happier.

Outside of the Sheffield area, we use a carrier. Delivery is arranged with the carrier once your order is ready, and will be on an agreed day and time slot.
Within the Sheffield area, we deliver using our own vehicle. Once your order is ready to be delivered, we will contact you to arrange a delivery date and time slot.

Please note: ‘Clear Pine’ is finished in our standard, natural-look lacquer. ‘Sanded Pine’ does not have any lacquer/finish at all. They do not look any different from one another, but the ‘sanded’ option does feel slightly rougher to the touch.
