Feeling inspired by Channel 4’s Indian Summer to create a beautiful bedroom design with an Indian flavour? Look no further! Our exclusive collection of Indian bedding and exotic, handmade solid wood beds will be all you need to create this look.

Classic looks for a master bedroom

The Raj four poster is a Colonial style four poster, made in Britain but inspired by classic Indian motifs. The tall tapered posts and decorative finials make this the perfect 4-poster for a India inspired master bedroom. In one of the images above we have draped a beautiful Indian Saree over the upper rails of the Raj to create a canopy, alternatively use long lengths of voile for a lighter, more romantic look.

Complement this bed with similarly sumptuous bedding – our Zari and Hyderabad duvet covers, in black, purple, kingfisher, teal and mango incorporate golden embroidered brocade. Our Kashmir silk duvet covers are embroidered with a classic floral motif, they are available in gold, black or amethyst.

Luxury, eastern style

If you don’t have the room height for a four-poster, don’t worry – it’s still possible to create a luxurious India inspired bedroom with the Samarkand bed.

As you can see from the images above – this is a beautiful, solid wood bed with carved details to the feet and headboard posts. The bed is shown above in solid tulipwood stained wenge in colour, but it is available in a wide range of solid hardwoods including walnut, cherry and oak.

For a sumptuous look add soft silk bedding, we have used the Pha Tung organic silk duvet cover in indigo blue, it is also available in cypress green and silver, or flame red and gold. A richly coloured, subtly muted colour scheme will suit this style – terracotta, indigo or jade.

To complete the look: swap your blinds for shutters, add a pair of classic bedside lamps (the M&S Puerto lamp is a fun choice!) and look for a few authentic Indian decorative pieces such as a mirror or carved candle holder (try our sister company www.bringingitallbackhome.co.uk for beautiful, authentic crafts from India.)

A relaxed, contemporary take…

The Mandalay is a lower version of the Samarkand bed, shown above in solid oak with a cosy, quilted bedspread and modern bedside table. This bed is perfect for a subtle, relaxed take on this style – less formal and opulent than the previous India inspired bedrooms – the Mandalay in a light wood gives a fresh, subtly modern feel.

To recreate this look add a vibrant wall colour – deep turquoise, burnt orange or deep lime green are great choices (just a feature wall is fine if you are nervous of too much colour! All these shades will look great with a soft, chalky white). Wooden floors, a cotton or leather woven rug, a rustic mirror and simple, cotton bedding complete the scheme. Take a look at our Eden cotton quilts (in sage green or aqua), they are reversible with an exotic floral design to one side and a contemporary pattern to the reverse. Alternatively try our Kadi quilts – simple, stylish patchwork quilts in dusty neutrals (ember tones, earth shades and sky-blue.)
