The Highland is our latest bed design, based on our Orchid 4 poster but with a simple fabric covered, padded headboard instead of a wooden headboard. If you are looking for a cosy, contemporary 4 poster bed – this is the bed for you!
The Highland bed frame is in solid wood – available in our usual collection of hardwoods: maple, ash, beech, cherry, oak and walnut. If you are looking for a black four poster, we can make the Highland in oak with a black lacquer finish. Take a look at our Black Orchid to see how the frame would look. The bed frame photographed here is made of solid cherry wood. The headboard has been upholstered in one of our standard fabrics: Amatheon, a wool rich, felt like marl fabric, in colour ‘Linen’. The Highland is available with a headboard upholstered in any of our standard fabrics – Tailor or Amantheon – or in our luxury, pure wool fabric – Parquet. See some examples of these fabrics below:
Upholstery Options for the Headboard Panel:
Our Main CollectionThe finely woven fabric ‘Tailor’ fabric is 50% wool, 15% cotton, 17% polyamide, 14% polyester, 4% poly-cotton mix.
The marl, ‘felted’ fabric Amatheon is 70% Wool, 25% Polyamide (+ 5% Other Fibre).
These are soft and luxurious, high quality fabrics – with a high Martindale ‘rub test’ rating of 40,000+ they are suitable even for contract upholstery.Tailor is available in the following colours: Wolf, Linen, Natural or Earth. Amatheon is available in: Wolf Grey, Armour (charcoal), Ebony, Linen, Ecru, Dew (soft sky blue) or Emperor (deep plum).
Our Luxury CollectionParquet is a luxury pure wool fabric with a classic basketweave pattern, available in a range of contemporary colours: Turquoise, Orange, Denim, Silver, Pewter, Petrol, Sage and Hessian. Take a look at our Iona bed to see a bed with a headboard upholstered in Petrol coloured Parquet.
If you don’t find the fabric you are looking for in the options available, please rest assured – we can generally use a fabric of your choice for our non-buttoned headboards. Please note – the fabric must meet UK fire retardancy regulations and we will need an F.R. sample to check with our upholsterer that it will be suitable. This means that we can let you know if there are any issues with the fabric prior to you placing an order – patterned fabrics with a large motif or heavy fabrics can be difficult to use. All of this can be discussed with our experienced sales team.
The Highland 4 poster is a real showpiece bed – a stunning canopy bed that suits a bedroom with a high ceiling and plenty of space. With the tall posts and fabric covered headboard, it is also perfect for creating a cosy, intimate space within a larger room. Add a voile canopy over the upper rails to add a sense of romance (and privacy!) to your scheme.
The headboard panel is beautifully finished, even to the back, so this bed can be used in the centre of the room if desired.
No need to worry about getting it upstairs – the flat pack design takes care of that, assembly is easy and the clever construction is rock solid. We just recommend that two people put the Highland together – it will make the process so much easier. You should expect self assembly to take 30-45 minutes.
