At Natural Bed Company we LOVE interior design – we buy all the magazines, follow all the Instagram accounts and go to as many shows as we can. We especially love bedroom design (obviously), so here are our top 10 Bedroom Interior Design Trends for Summer 2017.

1. Brights

Neutrals have always been a steady favourite, you can’t go wrong with white and grey! But if you want to take your bedroom design up a peg or two, add in some brights. This trend works with either complementary or contrasting colours, such as pairing the Isobel Linen Bedding with the Bronte Diamond Weave throw in Indigo or the Marakesh bedding which pairs contrasting shades with a bold pattern too. Go as bright as you can for that summer vibe

2. Minimalism

Minimalism has been around a while, but from seeing everyone’s beautifully clean and tidy Scandi homes all over social media, more and more people are looking for solid clean lines. Keeping bedroom spaces tidy can sometimes be a chore, see our Black Lotus Cube Chest of drawers for easy and stylish storage, with a contemporary cube design. Remember, minimalism is all about fewer, higher quality items that you can enjoy for a lifetime.

3. Metallic

Metallics seem to be a trend that is here to stay. It started in 2016 with copper, which we still love, but brass is slowly becoming the favourite. We love Umbra’s metallic Prisma photo frames and scarf hangers.

4. Mid-Century Modern

The most talked about trend of 2017, this trend is all about white walls, natural timbers and warm rustic tones.
For the freshest white bedding see the White Linen Bedding or high thread count cotton. We love the way white enhances the grain in the solid wooden furniture –uncomplicated items, made well, will always look beautiful, you really can’t go wrong.

5. Concrete

We love the irresistible contrast between rough, industrial, concrete and modern, clean, warm tones. If your landlord won’t let you plaster your wall with concrete, how about mixing in some concrete plant pots and accessories instead?

6. Grey with pops of colour

This is a new trend seen at interior design shows, this trend involves creating a very simple room with an all grey look, when a single pop of colour is brought into the mix the look is simply stunning and bold. It creates an illusion where the colour looks so bright in contrast it looks almost photoshopped! For a pop of colour take a look at our collection of colourful wool and cotton throws. We have plenty of grey bedding too – including the a brushed cotton range with a lime coloured linen piped edge – perfect for this look.

7. 1970’s

Be careful with this trend, we don’t mean ‘deep shag carpets, waterbeds and owls’ 1970’s! But mustard tones are coming back in a big way, see the Melbourne or Athens throw. The 1970’s was also a big time for curved lines and warm timbers, we love these modern takes on this retro style.

8. Dark Green

It seems that the warm burgundy tones and cool blues are are moving out and dark greens are moving in. It’s a must have for the Scandi style, they provide a wintery backdrop for warm timbers and leathers. Dark green also adds depth, colour and helps bring the outdoors in. Start slow with dark green throws before moving onto larger items of furniture and whole walls!

9. Upholstered Headboards

We have seen a huge increase in popularity of upholstered beds recently. They have been a staple in luxe hotel rooms and celebrity homes for years, they are now moving into our bedrooms. They add instant glamour and comfort to any space.

We have upholstered beds in a range of designs – from neutrals to colours, plain to buttoned, low bed to four poster, there is something to suit everyone.
