Our latest bed design is the Pimlico Bed, a stylish, low retro bed with soft, curved edges and a mid-century look. The Pimlico is the ‘little sister’ to our Camden bed – lower than the Camden with shorter, slightly less tapered legs and a lower headboard panel, it’s therefore perfect for attic rooms and bedrooms with a lower ceiling. Like all our beds the Pimlico arrives flat-pack, ready for easy self-assembly, so access shouldn’t ever be an issue.

The Pimlico handmade bed is a contemporary take on a classic mid-century style. A beautiful, handmade, solid wood bed with shaped legs and soft curves to the edges, like the Camden, the different directions of the grain on the legs and headboard make for an interesting detail. You can emphasise this aspect by choosing a timber with a vibrant grain – oak, walnut, ash and cherry would be a good choice. The Pimlico shown here is made in solid oak.

Styling the Pimlico Bed

The Pimlico will suit a wide range of bedding styles – from modern monochrome to cosy and festive. Here we’ll take a look at the bedding we used for our photo shoots and make other suggestions to suit these styles.

Modern & Monochrome

Here we’ve dressed the Pimlico with our slate grey linen bedding. This 100% natural linen bedding is pre-washed, softening the fibres for a relaxed, informal look.
This collection of pure linen duvet covers and pillowcases is available in a, slightly washed-out, yet rich – almost black – dark grey shade. We have linen duvet covers available in double, king-size or super-king.

We’ve accessorised with a black, chevron pattern bedspread and cream throws. The striped throw is the Andas Cotton Blanket – the Andas is a large, soft cotton blanket in ivory with black stripes of varying depth. Incredibly soft to the touch, the Andas is very popular and has cosy cushions to match. We’ve also added the Faux Alpaca Throw – this is a warm and cosy throw, new to the collection this Autumn. The cushions photographed here are cream and black Embroidered Cotton Cushions.  They are richly decorated with bobbles and decorative stitching, the reverse of the cover is plain cream cotton. At 30x50cm in size they are perfect for beds and sofas.

This look is contemporary, with a slightly boho, relaxed feel to it. The Pimlico suits it perfectly and the bedding doesn’t distract from the design details of the bed.

Scandinavian Inspired Neutrals

The American White Oak that we use for our oak beds always looks good with neutrals  – as can be seen here on our oak Pimlico Bed. The duvet and pillowcases are from our Brown Melange Organic Cotton Bedding Collection. This is a lovely range of soft cotton bedding in a subtle grey/brown shade that works well with both cool grey and warm cream or brown accessories.

The grey accessories we’ve used for this look include the Cement Grey Luxury Faux Fur Bedspread and the Silver Grey Velvet Quilt. The faux fur bedspread has a luxuriously soft, deep pile in a blend of tones. It is 240x140cm in size, and so will beautifully cover the end of your bed even a super-king bed.
The Silver grey velvet quilt is a reversible quilt – one side has a cover in 100% cotton velvet in a shimmering silver grey colour, the reverse has a natural linen cover in a soft limestone colour. The stitched detail to create the quilted effect is in a matching pale golden limestone colour.

The cream and burnt orange bedding we used includes the Saffron Stripe throw, Cream Brushed Organic Cotton Blanket and Embroidered Duvet Set in cream and terracotta. The brushed cotton blanket is a generous 160 x 240cm, so it’s ideal for over the end of your bed. A luxurious organic cotton blanket in super-soft brushed flannel, it also has a beautiful satin border.  The embroidered duvet set in cream and terracotta is made of a soft cream percale cotton with terracotta embroidery to the edges.

Cosy and Festive

This look is perfect for Autumn/Winter (and so good for Christmas day!) as the duvet set is made of the softest brushed cotton in a deep crimson. We’ve accessorised with a Scandinavian style sheepskin throw and small wool cushions from Shepherd of Sweden.

We also offer a cosy cotton throw in a blend of red and ivory thread. This throw is great value and a good way to add a splash of colour without too much of a commitment to the look. Other options include our natural look faux fur throws in ‘Brown Elk’ or ‘Silver Fox’.

The Pimlico works well with this modern, festive look as it has that Scandinavian chic style that works so well with a cosy, winter scheme.
