As I’m writing this our UK summer seems anything but summery! However I will put my faith in the forecasters and believe that the sun will soon return. With that in mind I’m taking a look at our favourite summer bedroom looks and latest bedding, so I can get my bedroom ‘summer ready’.

Fresh White Bedrooms

Calm and cooling – a white bedroom look is great for summer. Classic white bedding is also available in a wide range of fabrics and styles, so this look is really easy to achieve.
Pair your white bedding with a light coloured timber for a fresh, nordic look. We love oak, ash and maple but white-wash pine is good value and a great choice if you prefer a more rustic look. White walls and white bedding will really draw attention to the timber.

Add extra interest with texture and accessories. I really love the washed cotton bedding shown here – it has a lovely relaxed feel. The ruffle edge adds a subtly feminine touch.
Alternatives include our white textured cotton duvet sets – available in all white, but with a variety of textured patterns.
The white Stockholm or Dapple bedspreads are another good way to add a contemporary style. These light-weight bedspreads can also be used with just a white cotton flat sheet in the summer. Perfect on very warm nights (instead of your usual duvet).

Cool Coastal Look

The coastal look is popular throughout spring and summer as the cool blue tones give your bedroom a bright, fresh feel. The low-key, relaxed aspect of this look is reminiscent of summer holidays away – beach huts and sand castles.
The coastal look is typified by blues in a range of tones, stripes in white and blue, seersucker fabrics and natural timber.
Coastal is a look that can be styled to suit a classic or contemporary scheme. As you can see from the images below – it suits a wide variety of timber and bed styles too. The simple Malabar, Bamford and Sonora beds look great styled this way – particularly when ordered in a timber with a strong grain (such as ash, oak or walnut). Order the Tao bed with a painted headboard so you can select your favourite shade of blue for the headboard panel. Add simple bedside tables like our Modern Cube tables. The St Ives lamp or our Wooden Bedside Lamp holders suit this look too.

Bring the various elements together with fresh cotton bedding in cool tones. My favourites for the coastal look are the Navy Plaid bedding and the Navy Blue & Ivory Reversible Duvet sets. Our metal storage lockers in navy, ivory or mid blue would complement this look.

Coastal Colours

Bright Bedrooms

Summer is the perfect time to add a pop of colour to your bedroom scheme. The bright, warm light of a lovely summer’s day adds intensity to any shade.
The easiest way to add some colour is with bedding and accessories. We have a range of duvet covers in a variety of shades, patterned and plain.
For a splash of blue (take a look at the coastal look above too) you could just add a deep teal, chevron knit throw. Texture and colour for just £45! Our soft, wool throws with a herringbone pattern are available in a range of vibrant shades (hot pink, orange or lime). A brightly coloured throw on plain white bedding looks modern and fresh. Our rainbow edge throw works really well for this look too.

A number of our colourful duvet sets are reversible – so you get two looks for the price of one. I love the Modern Painted Flowers set (shown here) which has splatters of deep blue on white for the reverse print, with bold – loosely painted – flowers printed on the front.

Again our metal lockers are perfect for this look. Available in a huge range of colours and four sizes – you are sure to find the perfect one to complete your colorful bedroom look.
