Following the success of our ever-popular Camden Drawer Tables, we thought we’d give our classic Cochin Tables the same treatment. These models have been available from us for a long time, but the introduction of a drawer within the tabletop is a new invention for us! It comes off the back of customer requests for a little bit of storage for the bedside, but still in keeping with the design of our beds. In this article, we share all the details of our new Cochin Drawer Tables.
The Cochin bed is one of the earliest original designs still made by Natural Bed Company. Designed with a subtle nod to Indian styling in mind, the Cochin has a distinctly mid-century feel. Its tapered legs are a real feature of its design, and bring a tall, elegant look to the bed. Those same legs are used on the new Cochin Drawer Tables. This makes them the perfect pairing for a fully cohesive look.
Your can purchase the Cochin Drawer Tables in two heights. We have made these available in two different heights to suit varying depths of mattresses and varying beds, too! Of course, these tables are designed to sit with our Cochin and Dalston beds first and foremost. However, they can also be used with any of our other beds, or even elsewhere in the home. Customers have told us in the past that our bedside tables have also made lovely side tables in the living room!
The tapering legs are the main characteristic of these bedside tables. A classic, mid-century modern feature that gives effortless style to these bedside tables. To accentuate this style, choose one of our darker timber options, such as walnut or cherry. These timbers really sell that retro feel. In lighter timbers, the Cochin tables are still a beautiful choice, but they take on a more Scandinavian, almost coastal look. Oak is a neutral choice, and gives the tables more of a classic, traditional look.
The Cochin Drawer Tables also suit other mid-century modern style beds with a slight taper design. In particular, the Zanskar, Hatfield and Rajasthan beds are great options.
Available in our full range of solid hardwoods, these tables are hand-crafted at our local Sheffield workshop. As with any of our handmade beds and bedside tables, each one is unique thanks to the myriad of different tones, patterns and grain found across each of the timbers we use. You can find out more information about each of them just here on our website.
