Our first new designs for 2026, the Nara & Osaka beds are the latest additions to our range of handmade wooden beds. Boasting contemporary profiles inspired by simple Japanese styles, these new models combine mid-century ideals and modern design. Read on to see all the details of this new collection.

Striking Silhouettes

Both the Nara and Osaka beds are available in three styles. You can choose to have a full size bed frame, either with or without a headboard, or, they are also both available as day beds. Similar to our ever-popular Kyoto Day Bed, these new additions are characterised by the striking leg details found throughout this new collection. These legs strike a unique silhouette, giving each bed a statement style that is at once bold and understated.

The Osaka Collection

The beautifully crafted Osaka range is characterised by soft rounded edges. The collection includes a bed with a headboard panel with curved corners, a bed without a headboard and a stylish daybed.

The bed base is supported on a chunky frame with gentley tapering legs and soft, curved edges. The bed with a headboard has a chunky headboard panel with curved corners.

The daybed includes a comfy sprung mattress and bolster cushion. A stunning classic Japandi style daybed – if makes a beautiful addition to your lounge while being comfy enough to use as a spare single bed.

The gorgeous mid-century style of this collection ensures it will never date. This range is a stunning investment in beautifully handcrafted furniture, made in a range solid hardwoods at our Sheffield wprkshops by our finest craftsmen.

Detailing

Each of our beds is handmade at our Sheffield workshop by our team of skilled woodworkers, available in our range of hardwood timbers. Our timbers are sourced from sustainably-managed forests from Northern USA, Canada and Scandinavia. The fine detail in the legs and gentle shaping of each bed is crafted by hand, making each one subtly unique. Designed in-house by our workshop management, these new low beds are the offspring of our two most popular models; the Kyoto and the Camden.

The Kyoto is inspired by traditional Japanese futon beds and embodies minimalism and tranquility; two pillars of Japanese room design. Whereas, the Camden is inspired by mid-century design – the rounded edges, gentle curves and headboard posts are all trademark characteristics from this type of design. The Osaka and Nara beds combine the low platform of the Kyoto, but offer a more nostalgic style thanks to their mid-century inspired legs.

The Nara Collection

The beautifully crafted Nara range is characterised by crisp, angular lines. The collection includes a bed with a headboard panel, a bed without a headboard and a stylish, comfy daybed.

The bed base is supported on a chunky frame with tapering legs which stand proud of the sleeping platform. The bed with a headboard has a chunky headboard panel.

This collection is available in a range of hardwoods: walnut, oak, ash, cherry, beech or maple. The daybed includes an upholstered sprung mattress, available in a range of fabrics.

The Nara, like the Osaka collection, has a contemporary ‘Japandi’ look (a fusion of clean, classic Japanese style and modern Scandinavian aesthetics).

Crisp & Contemporary vs Rounded and Subtly Retro

The Osaka bed boasts rounded, gentle curves whereas the Nara is characterised by more angular, geometric shapes. As detailed above, both combine mid-century styling with minimal ideals inspired by Japanese design. It is of course the latter which is the inspiration behind both their names! If you’re looking for more of a classic style for your bed frame, the Osaka is the perfect choice due to its softer, curved details. Whereas, the more modern Nara boasts a straighter, angular look – ideal for a contemporary bedroom style.

Both frames bring a sense of clean style thanks to their low profile, and – as they’re crafted from solid, natural timbers – they boast a timelessness that’s made to last.
