The Kumo low wooden bed is the perfect choice for compact spaces, such as a loft or low-ceiling room. Pair with a slimline mattress or futon to complete this look. Classic Japanese styling features minimal, considered colours. Wenge Stained Pine is a popular timber choice for this bed base (see pictures above). A version of this low wooden bed base with a headboard is also available. If, instead, you do wish to purchase this bed without a headboard but think you may want to add one in future, please leave a note at checkout to request the pre-drilled holes required to add the panel. These holes will not be visible with the frame up against a wall. Please note: a headboard panel cannot be added in future if these holes are not present.
Every bed is made to order. Our lead-time is usually around 8 weeks (+ delivery). This can fluctuate throughout the year, please do get in touch for the most up to date information.
Our ‘natural’ look lacquer finish, named for its clarity, allows you to appreciate the myriad colours and subtle variations in the tone of natural timber. It also retains a very subtle, soft sheen which protects the timber from grease marks and some stains.

Please note: ‘Clear Pine’ is finished in our standard, natural-look lacquer. ‘Sanded Pine’ does not have any lacquer/finish at all. They do not look any different from one another, but the ‘sanded’ option does feel slightly rougher to the touch.

Lead in times: our bed bases (and a select few furniture items) are hand made to order in our Sheffield workshop. The lead in time is usually 8 weeks (+ delivery), which can fluctuate throughout the year – get in touch for the latest info. Please note that ex-display/stock beds, sofa beds, mattresses and some Ethnicraft furniture have differing lead in times, which you will find noted in the description above.
Outside of the Sheffield area, we use a national carrier called BJS. You will be provided an estimated despatch date shortly after your order is placed, and the courier will be in touch with you directly to arrange the delivery date and time slot after they have collected your order.
For customers based in Sheffield, we usually perform delivery in our own vehicle. However, some items are excluded and will instead be shipped with our standard courier, BJS.

We despatch all of our small items via Royal Mail or ParcelForce. Prices include delivery to mainland UK with an aim to deliver within 3-5 working days.
You can opt for an expedited service, if you would prefer. You can select this option for an additional cost at checkout, which then aims to deliver within 1-2 working days.
Please note, we process and pack orders Monday-Saturday between 10am-5pm, excluding bank holidays. We aim to process orders as soon as possible, with collection booked to occur the day after processing.

Yes! Most of our handmade items can be tweaked with a variety of customisations. Please get in touch with our friendly sales team with your idea and we’ll let you know what is possible and provide a bespoke quote.
All of our bed bases are delivered flat pack for easy self assembly - we include our full range of assembly instructions online so you can see how straight forward this is! All of our tables are delivered as one piece, so no assembly would be required. Our under-bed drawers simply require the small castors screwing into place.
Our showroom is based in Sheffield city centre. We try to keep a variety of designs and timber son display, but if you’re hoping to see something specific, please do get in touch before your visit.
