For those looking for a simple, oriental style, extra-low bed the Kobe is ideal. The bed platform appears to float above the floor due to the solid inset legs. There are three great models in this family of low beds, all the same style but at different heights. The tallest is the Kyoto bed, a similar style to the Kobe but higher; the Kyoto is tall enough to accommodate under-bed drawers. The third related low bed is the Kumo which sits between the Kobe and the Kyoto: it’s higher than the Kobe, but lower than the Kyoto.

Lacquer Finish:
Our ‘natural’ lacquer finish, named for its clarity, allows you to appreciate the myriad colours and subtle variations in tone of natural timber. It retains a subtle, soft sheen which protects the timber from grease marks and some stains.

We introduced our natural lacquer finish 3 years ago. It is still possible to order your furniture with the original ‘clear’ finish used previously- please call us to discuss your options when matching new Natural Bed Company furniture to older pieces.

Before I found the Natural Bed Company I have been searching for a bed like Kobe for a long time unable to see something which matches the image I had in my head.

I love the added benefit of knowing that it is a bed that has been made extremely well using the best materials.

Thank you for providing me with a bed for life

From the point of initial contact with The Natural Bed Company, I was impressed with their service. I was researching how I could improve quality of sleep, including better back support. I had heard of futons before and was searching along this line when I contacted The Natural Bed Company to ask for some information about the variety they sold. During this conversation I learned of the Kobe and the description of it, and the range of mattresses available, was spot on for my needs, so I went for it.

The flat pack that arrived was extremely well presented and it took me around 45 minutes to construct the Kobe from the instructions provided – a Pozidrive 2 screwdriver being required though other than this everything needed to erect the bed was supplied. The Kobe is a work of art, in addition to being the most back-supportive bed I’ve known and I do recommend it. It is very light for a bed and was easy to position once erected, the only caution here being that due to its weight it will move if one leans against it and therefore it must be treated with respect.

I recommend the bed and the company that makes them, The Natural Bed Company.
