Our Kyoto bed is our most popular low bed. Inspired by traditional Japanese styling, the Kyoto has a truly Oriental feel. Made from solid ash wood; a wonderfully varied timber, known for its bold stripes and swirls. Available here in a special edition, Smoked Ash finish – in a choice of two tones:

If you’re looking for bedroom furniture to match the handcrafted Kyoto bed, you might like to take a look at our Furniture Made by Us. You can find a range of tables and under-bed storage which can be finished in the same Smoked Ash stain upon request.

Mattress Depth Information: Due to its low headboard and minimal profile, the Kyoto is best suited for use with mattresses that are 20cm deep or less, and it is pictured above with 18 - 20cm deep mattresses.
If you have a much deeper mattress than this, we can customise the Kyoto slightly by adding a maximum of 5cm to the headboard panel. This customisation does incur an additional cost, which varies depending on the size and timber. If you wish to add this customisation to the headboard panel, please use the 'ask us more' tab above to request a quote before proceeding with an order.

Lead in times: our bed bases (and a select few furniture items) are hand made to order in our Sheffield workshop. The lead in time is usually 8 weeks (+ delivery), which can fluctuate throughout the year – get in touch for the latest info. Please note that ex-display/stock beds, sofa beds, mattresses and some Ethnicraft furniture have differing lead in times, which you will find noted in the description above.
Outside of the Sheffield area, we use a national carrier called BJS. You will be provided an estimated despatch date shortly after your order is placed, and the courier will be in touch with you directly to arrange the delivery date and time slot after they have collected your order.
For customers based in Sheffield, we usually perform delivery in our own vehicle. However, some items are excluded and will instead be shipped with our standard courier, BJS.

We despatch all of our small items via Royal Mail or ParcelForce. Prices include delivery to mainland UK with an aim to deliver within 3-5 working days.
You can opt for an expedited service, if you would prefer. You can select this option for an additional cost at checkout, which then aims to deliver within 1-2 working days.
Please note, we process and pack orders Monday-Saturday between 10am-5pm, excluding bank holidays. We aim to process orders as soon as possible, with collection booked to occur the day after processing.

We have a small workshop in Sheffield where all of our beds and the furniture made by us are hand crafted by our skilled woodworkers.

Yes! Most of our handmade items can be tweaked with a variety of customisations. Please get in touch with our friendly sales team with your idea and we’ll let you know what is possible and provide a bespoke quote.
All of our bed bases are delivered flat pack for easy self assembly - we include our full range of assembly instructions online so you can see how straight forward this is! All of our tables are delivered as one piece, so no assembly would be required. Our under-bed drawers simply require the small castors screwing into place.
Our showroom is based in Sheffield city centre. We try to keep a variety of designs and timber son display, but if you’re hoping to see something specific, please do get in touch before your visit.
