Extend your organic lifestyle beyond the kitchen with organic mattresses, bedding, towels, wraps and natural toiletries from the Natural Bed Company…

Recent scientific research links declines in bee populations to new pesticides and demonstrates that bees are becoming addicted to such pesticides. With various campaigning organisations[1] taking action, and more and more customers asking about our organic credentials, we feel it’s time to share how we can help you live more organically.

Plenty of articles, blogs, brochures, and trade bodies promote and share advice on how to eat organically. But how can you extend your organic lifestyle beyond your kitchen?

Well, after 40 years developing our ethical, eco-conscious product range we can help in many ways. We offer a growing number of solid wooden beds and a stylish collection of bedroom furniture – all made using sustainably sourced timber. An organic mattress, organic bedding, organic cotton throws, natural toiletries and organic cotton towels are also available online or in-store.

Let’s start in the bedroom:
Want to sleep easy, knowing that your mattress is made from 100 percent natural fibres and is free from fire retardant chemicals? Try our Organic Latex mattress. Made in the UK, this mattress is simply a 15cm thick core of natural latex, wrapped in organic Welsh wool and covered in equally organic cotton. That’s all. The natural fibres are biodegradable and inherently fire resistant and, available in medium/firm, it’s suitable for most body weights.

Alternatively consider our Bamboo Passion mattress, not an organic mattress – but very natural. The cover is made from 100 percent bamboo fibre, which is non-toxic, hypoallergenic and biodegradable. Its foam core incorporates soya extract but also low impact fire-retardant chemicals.

What about bedding?
Yes, we’ve got that covered too! Our organic bedding range, made from crisp cotton grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, is responsibly made and fairly traded.
We’ve organic cotton throws too. Soft to the touch, subtle to the eye (charcoal grey and blush pink, ivory and navy or beige and cream) these throws are large enough to cover the end of your bed and stylish enough to keep in the lounge. In fact, my family likes to take them from the bedroom, to the lounge, to the garden, to the car, to the tent, and even to the pub with them!

And the bathroom?
No I don’t allow the throws in the bathroom! I do, however, happily allow Natural Bed Company’s range of organic towels into the bathroom – the collection includes: organic rice weave towels, huge wellness wrap towels, bath wrap towels, clever hand/hair towels, and soft broste organic cotton towels. A natural collection of luxurious toiletries is also available from Bath House, Meraki and Sevin.

All this may seem extravagant, but, if you believe that safeguarding our planet for future generations is important, then deepening your organic lifestyle is too. Natural products may cost a little more money, but they last much longer than man-made solutions and save more in other ways. Most natural fabrics get softer with washing too and, Natural Bed Company products for sure, are made to last.

Which brings us back to the subject of time….
Did you know that, according to Albert Einstein, if bees become extinct, human society will follow in just four years time? I don’t know how accurate his prediction is but I’d prefer not to risk it and to go organic in as many ways as I can.
