If you have space in your bedroom it’s generally a good idea to include a bedroom chair – whether it is to use with a dressing table, or as a place to sit when tying your shoelaces! A stylish bedroom chair can complete a bedroom scheme and prove to be a useful, flexible piece of furniture.

In this blog we take a look at the options we have available and the furniture to suit the various styles.

Bedroom Stools

A stylish stool is a great way to add seating without taking up a lot of floor space. A stool can can sit, out of the way, under a dressing table or console table. It can then also be used as an occasional bedside table (a place to rest your morning cup of coffee or place your alarm clock).

Our wool covered stools are comfy, with a small foot print and a flat surface – so they answer all of these requirements perfectly! Available covered in a lovely wool melange fabric in a range of neutral shades – they make an easy addition to any bedroom. We would recommend the wool covered stool in black with the Blackbird desk – a stunning, contemporary dressing table/desk in oak with a black stain to the frame, natural oak drawer and black metal base. This modern table and stool will work well with any of our modern bed designs – if you have the room I would suggest an Orchid bed in natural oak or black stained oak.

The Osso stool is a particularly popular choice for minimalist, Japanese style bedrooms. The Osso is available in solid oak, black stained oak or solid walnut – it has a gently curved seat and turned legs. We have used the Osso with a range of dressing tables – my favourite is the modern, oak Wave table – and we often show it with the Japanese look Kyoto bed.

Dressing Table Chairs

The Facette chair is made by Ethnicraft, this beautiful chair combines an ultra modern design with carefully crafted elements. Facette chairs have a black metal base and ‘facetted’ oak seat with a natural finish or black stained finish. A stunning modern chair – I would pair it with the Frame Desk or Whitebird Table (as shown below). This chair suits our more angular beds – such as the Zanskar or Malabar beds in solid oak.

The Bok chair is a curvier alternative – again available in natural oak or black stained oak – it is solid wood with a curved back-rest. Bok chairs are reminiscent of classic mid-century style and I would therefore recommend this chair if you have one of our Camden, Carnaby, Pimlico or Hoxton bed bases. The curves of the Bok reflect the gentle curves of these designs – curved legs and soft, gentle curved corners.

Occassional Chairs

A relaxing armchair is a bit of a luxury in a bedroom, but if you have the room to accomodate one (or two!), it can give your bedroom the feel of a boutique hotel suite. The Shoreditch armchair has an upholstered seat and backrest with armrests and legs in solid wood. An armchair with a low, relaxed seat – if you prefer a more upright, formal seat then take a look at the Lauren chair. This curvey chair also has wooden legs and fabric uphplstery, but with solid curved arms and backrest and a much higher seat height. Both of these designs suit a mid-century look so again I would recommend them with any of the beds in the Camden collection.

N2 is a more rectilinear design – a low chair without armrests made in solid oak – this chair looks fantastic with our simple, low, minimalist bed designs such as the Kulu and Oregon beds. While the Gabbia armchair is a much more fluid design, it has a black metal frame with a solid oak seat and is a great update to any contemporary bedroom.

Bedroom Benches

The Black Lotus benches are a great way to add extra storage space along with a place to sit. Our simple Cube style benches in oak or walnut, are available with or without a drawer and in two sizes: wide (150cm wide) or narrow (75cm without a drawer or 67.5cm with the drawer). The 150cm wide unit was developed with the idea that it sits at the end of a king-size or superking bed, providing both extra storage space and a bench to sit on.
The narrow units can be used as bedside tables or at the end of a bed – 2 x 75cm units are perfect for a king-size, while 2 x 67.5cm units suit a double bed.

If you are looking for a bench with a classic, elegant handcrafted look then we recommend the Spindle bench – this beautiful bench is W 35 cm x D 150 cm x H 60 cm – so it’s perfect at the end of a king-size bed. A stunning, slender bench with a low back rest – the Spindle bench is available in solid oak or walnut. The curves of the Spindle complement our Camden beds collection, or can be used as a contrast with our Orchid or Oasis 4 poster beds.
