Over the last few years, our range of hand-crafted wooden 4-poster beds has expanded from the contemporary style of the Orchid and Oasis beds to bed bases incorporating upholstered headboards, herringbone patterned headboards, Indian influenced designs and brand new styles such as the Hatfield that do away with the traditional canopy all together.

A 4-poster wooden bed makes a statement and becomes the focal point of any bedroom. With our expanded range of options, you now have a wide selection of designs to choose from, and styles to fit every look.

Lets start by taking a closer look at one of our original 4 poster bed designs, the Orchid. With a simple, clean outline the Orchid four poster retains a modern style whilst incorporating the classic shape of this bed type. For a more traditional look, timbers such as oak and walnut work well, for a more contemporary feel then a lighter timber such as maple is ideal. Alternatively for an ultra modern look try the Black Oak Orchid four poster.

Due to the height at which the mattress would sit (42cm) pair the Orchid with a taller bedside table, perfect if you require more storage, and for it not to look out of place or cluttered. Take a look at our Black Lotus Shaker 3 Drawer Bedside, Tall Cube Table and Black Lotus Shaker 3 Drawer Chest for inspiration.

With the same dimensions as the Orchid but with the addition of a chevron-patterned wooden headboard, the Kelham 4 poster bed is the perfect choice if you are looking to add a modern twist to a classic design. Timbers with variations in colour and grain such as ash, oak, cherry and walnut work best here, showing off both the beauty of the natural timber and the design of the headboard panel.

Having extra tall tapered posts and no canopy, the Hatfield has proved to be an eye-catching addition to our range. At 213cm from the floor to the top of the posts, this four-poster definitely suits a room with tall ceilings so as not to overwhelm the space.

For a cozier, softer style of four-poster look no further than the Highland bed. It has a luxuriously upholstered headboard panel available in a range of wool fabrics, which can fit in easily with any number of room designs.

The different fabric options are shown on the bed’s product page, but if it would be helpful, we can arrange for small swatches to be sent out to you. Simply contact us via email listing which fabrics you are interested in and we will request them to be sent out to you directly from the manufacturer.

If you are looking for an unusual, contemporary 4-poster bed, then our Oasis bed may be the perfect choice. The asymmetric posts and lack of a traditional canopy give the base an openness not found in our other designs.

If you prefer lots of hand crafted detail over the paired back look of the Oasis, then try the Rajasthan four poster. This four poster bed cleverly combines clean lines with an elegant Indian style. Shown here in solid walnut, it really suits timbers with a vibrant grain or deeper hue.
