Dark woods are popular the year round. However, in the winter months, they really come into their own. Think lush, chocolatey walnut paired with luxurious faux fur throws. Or black stained oak with plush cushions and hot cocoa -dark woods are a real staple for wintertime. In celebration of our new black stained oak Camden bed base, we thought we’d explore the furniture options you can match with your dark wood bed. Read on to find out all about them.

End-of-Bed Benches

We think an end-of-bed bench can add a lot to your bed. They are stylish and practical, offering extra storage or just the perfect place for putting on your slippers on a Sunday morning. They can make your bed look even bigger, and are a great place for storing bed clothes or sheets.

The Black Lotus Cube end-of-bed bench is available in walnut or oak. Walnut offers that cosy, dark wood look, and is extra special due to the swirling patterns found in its grain.

Another favourite is the Bok bench from Ethnicraft, available in sleek black oak. Ethnicraft make all their furniture from solid timber, oak being a popular choice in itself. Their black stained oak options pair great with other dark wood furniture, or as a contrast to lighter timbers.

Dark Wood Bedside Tables

Bedside tables can finish off the look of a bedroom. Adding them to either side of a bed creates the perfect place for your book, glasses or phone while you get your rest. They can also offer a style statement, and we have a wide range to choose from.

The striking shapes of the Geometric side table offer a modern look for your bedside table, available in Ethnicraft’s black stained oak or natural oak. Or, if you’re after a more traditional look, the Mid-Century bedside table comes in two gorgeous colour-ways, both perfect for complementing a dark wood scheme.

We can also make any of our bedside tables in a timber of your choosing! You can read more about this in our blog, Our Bedside Tables – the full range, and you can find out about all our different timbers here.

Dark Wood & Light Wood

Creating a contrast between light woods and dark woods is quite a trend in home-styling at the moment. Especially between naturally light timbers and stark, black accents. The Blackbird table and cupboard are the epitome of this trend, and offer modern, geometric shapes alongside natural tones.

Similarly, the Monolit bedroom furniture range pairs natural oak with black metal, creating stark outlines around light timber. All pieces in the Monolit range are also available in all-black variations, with black stained oak paired with those signature black metal outlines.

What do you think to the dark wood furniture look? Is it on your list for your next bedroom update? If you have any of our furniture in your own home, we’d love to see how you’ve styled it. You can share photos with us on our Facebook or Instagram pages – we love hearing from you!
