Here at Natural Bed Company, we strive to support sustainable businesses whose ethics align with our own. We work with sustainably managed forests when sourcing the timbers to make our beds, and we stock organic products where we can. With this in mind, we thought we’d take a deeper look at our organic bed linen collection. The products here are a mix of new favourites and old classics – read on to find out more.
A newcomer to us, the Organic Linen Bedding selection is a real highlight for our collection. Available in three bold yet muted colours, this range is modern and stylish, but still retains the classic, rumpled linen look. Choose from dark charcoal, lush sage green or classic stone linen.
This range is made from 100% European Flax. It’s washed to give a worn, textured look, and to add even more layers of softness. Linen has a much lower environmental impact than cotton; the Flax plant it’s made from requires far less water and little to no artificial pesticides as it is natural insect-repellent. This bed linen is also packaged without any plastic, and comes with a matching linen storage bag. It’s also GOTS certified (Global Organic Textile Standard).
Pair the charcoal or sage from this bedding range with the Modern Organic Cotton Throws in either grey or mint for a cohesive look. Or, opt for the Striped Organic Cotton Throws for complimentary patterns in stone.
Taking a step back to one of our classic ranges; the organic cotton bedding collection – available in Brown Melange or Ivory White. This bedding is one of our old favourites. A classic, slightly thicker texture, this bedding is made from 100% organic cotton and free from harsh chemical treatments.
Responsibly made and fairly-traded, these covers and sheets are crafted from organic cotton that is soft to the touch and only softens further with age. GOTS certified organic cotton. Made under fair and safe working conditions in Turkey, from organic cotton grown in Turkey. Choose from either a neutral, grey-brown melange or classic ivory white for your organic bed linen.
The Brown Melange set pairs wonderfully with darker tones for contrast – try the organic cotton Peshtemal throw in black for a modern, bohemian look. The Ivory White set really brings our bright colours – take a look at the organic cotton Peshtemals in blue, yellow or tan for a vibrant style.
The original, best-selling range of organic cotton bedding is by far the classic and sateen collection. Made by Greenfibres, these sets are unbleached and un-dyed, and are not treated with harsh chemicals. The classic Organic Cotton Bedding range has natural-occurring flecks within the weave with a 160 thread count. Whereas, the Sateen Organic Cotton Bedding boasts a smooth, almost silky feel and a more uniform colour tone.
Both are GOTS Certified and available in a full range of duvet sets, pillow cases and fitted or flat sheets. The only thing to bear in mind with this range is that they are made to European sizes. Most of our customers find that they still suit UK bedding sizes just fine.
Thanks to their neutral colour scheme, these bedding sets pair wonderfully with almost any colour. Our favourites with this set are any of the Textured Organic Cotton Throws.
Lastly, we have the Luxury Organic Cotton Bedding range is a simplistic, minimal collection of organic bed linen available in three contemporary colours. Choose from stone, pink clay or white to suit your space.
GOTS Certified, this range is crafted from 100% organic cotton. It is available in either double or kingsize, and offers 300 Thread Count. Unfortunately, this range has now been discontinued by the manufacturer, and so what we have in stock is the very last available. We’re hoping to expand our range of organic bedding in the future!
For these sets, our tip is to pair the pink clay with the Diamond Pattern Organic Cotton Throw, and the stone with one of the gorgeously soft 6-Layer Organic Cotton Throws. The white is as neutral as you like, and pairs wonderfully with light, airy tones – take a look at the Modern Organic Cotton Throws.
Organic cotton helps replenish and maintain soil fertility. Grown using systems that keep nature in mind, this helps to build a biologically diverse environment through agriculture. These processes waste far less water, too.
Organic cotton boasts many benefits. Namely, it is more breathable than standard cotton and is not treated with harsh chemicals. The growing process does not use pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides. GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are also omitted when growing organic cotton.
