Following Earth Day last week, we’ve been thinking about our sustainable product favourites here at Natural Bed Company. Take a look through this blog to see that choosing Earth-friendly products doesn’t mean you have to miss out on luxurious, quality experiences in your home.
We couldn’t write this post without a nod to our namesake – beautiful, hand-crafted beds, made only with sustainable and ethically sourced timbers! This has been one of the most important aspects of Natural Bed Company, and has been for decades. Through purchasing timber from well managed forests, and ensuring new trees are planted in place of the mature trees that have been felled, the cycle of planting, growth and harvesting can continue. Which means we can continue making beautiful furniture for you in our Sheffield workshop. All of our bed bases are crafted with this sustainably sourced timber, so regardless of design, size or wood choice, you can sleep soundly in your Natural Bed Company bed!
The Hoxton bed is a great testament to high the quality of craftsmanship there is at our workshop – the chevron design headboard really showcases the natural variations in the timber in a beautiful display. We loved this feature so much, we also added the Hathersage and the Kelham beds to our range! If you’re after a feature bed that shows off a lot of timber, take a look at the Bamford or the Malabar which both have larger headboard panels, so you can really admire the distinctive grain patterns and tone which makes each bed base unique!Like a more minimal look? The Kyoto is a classic Natural Bed Company design, it’s sure to add a unique look to your space!
When it comes to organic bedding we have quite a few options, so you can rest easy knowing that they have been ethically sourced and responsibly made!
We have a variety of sustainable products made with fair trade Organic Cotton, from Duvets, mattress toppers and protectors to everyday bedding items in both a Classic and Sateen finish. This bedding isn’t treated with any chemicals and has a subtle creamy ivory colour with natural flecks throughout. If you’re after something with a little more colour, check out the Luxury Organic Cotton Bedding, available in 3 shades white, stone and pink clay. This range has a 300 thread count meaning it is both eco friendly and luxuriously soft! Our newest bedding addition is a Recycled Denim bedding set. It is made using the denim waste fibres created during the manufacture of denim jeans, creating a soft yet durable set from 100% recycled materials!
Another everyday essential to make a simple sustainable switch – towels!
We have a wide variety of options here depending on preferred colour schemes and textures. For a simple and stylish look we love the Organic Terry Weave Towels, a cosy absorbent towel in 3 colours and 2 sizes. If you prefer a more fluffy towel, try the Organic Cotton Towels for the ultimate hotel feel.
The Organic Cotton Waffle Towels are great for a more relaxed look. They have a woven texture, well made and stylish, and 100% GOTS certified organic cotton! The range truly goes on and on: from Bath Mats, Baby towels, and towels perfectly designed to wrap up your drying hair. Check out the full range of luxury towels here.
Treat your skin to a refreshing new shower experience with Organic Body wash, and matching certified organic body lotion. These Perfume-free, sustainable, bathroom essentials can be used everyday to keep skin clean and soft. We find they’re great on particularly dry/sore skin to soothe and soften. Check out the full Meraki range here. Made with care for you and the Environment!
Of course, no room is complete without a candle burning! We love the sustainable soy Aery Botanical Candles for their beautiful scents, stylish minimal design, and the finest sustainable ingredients. They are made from clean and long-burning biodegradable soy wax and have lead-free cotton wicks. Our new favourites for a deeply scented, relaxing atmosphere are the Black Woodwick Candles. These scented woodwick candles are hand-poured in the UK, and contain no animal-derived materials or Parabens. Recyclable materials are used wherever possible and virtually no plastics. Once you have finished your candle you can re-use or recycle the beautiful black glass jar as a small vase or tea-light holder. Made with 100% plant-based wax, which is palm oil free and creates a great, clean burning result.
Hopefully you’ll find a few easy swaps to make your home life more sustainable without missing out on the luxury, quality homewares you love! If you’re looking for something specific not mentioned here or you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
