With home being more important now than ever before, it’s important to keep our spaces feeling fresh and inviting! One of the most important rooms in the house and often the most overlooked – the bedroom. This is your space to unplug from the stresses of life, wind down and rest. So why not up your bedroom interior design game, check out some of our favourite current trends below –

Cottage Core

Currently taking social media by storm, you can’t flick through instagram without coming across long floaty dresses, homemade picnics or flower filled gardens. This trend is all about romanticising a simple country lifestyle and simpler times with lots of nostalgic florals, shapes and colours. Think, a super trendy Grandmas’s house!

There are many ways to bring this feeling into your bedroom space. My favourite is with bold floral prints, flowers in a vintage vase and cosy touches. The Ecru Linen Bedding would work perfectly for this, alternately you could use the for a bit of extra colour. Check out the Vintage Look or Yellow Floral Reversible bedspreads for a classic look or the White Embroidered bedspread for something more paired back. Top them off with Ruffled or Tasselled cushion as the finishing touch!
This style pairs perfectly with our Classic Bed designs such as the Cochin, Zanskar or Camden. To amp up the cosy factor, take a look at our upholstered beds like the Arran or the Shetland. For bedroom furniture, take a look at the Shaker range from our Black Lotus Collection
These Oak Serving boards are perfect for stacking up in your kitchen and serving up breakfast in bed. The Pearl Ceramics collection will also add a classic touch to any space.

Japandi interior design

An all time favourite of ours here at Natural Bed Company – Japandi interior design perfectly combines Japanese and Scandinavian styles just as the name suggests. The focus here is a more paired-back aesthetic, simple shapes and natural materials. This often results in a bright an airy space with little clutter, the perfect space to unwind in after a busy day and enjoy a glass of wine (or Sake!).

The obvious choice for this theme would be our Japanese style beds, the Kyoto in particular being one of our most popular designs. However, any of our contemporary beds would work well as the main feature should be the clean lines and natural timber. Paired with some Ethnicraft furniture, you can’t go wrong! I love shapes of the Osso stool and Modern Geometric Table.

Using minimal, neutral colour palette also works well to execute this look. Check out the Stockholm Bedspread in Charcoal for a cool minimal feel, with matching cushions available. The Recycled Cotton Rich Bedspreads offer a similar style in warmer tones. Keep homewares to a minimal, the Black Metal Candleholders are a great addition to this design.

Natural interior design

Another interior design trend that seems to be standing the test of time – natural features always play a part in one way or another. However, now more than ever, people are appreciating nature and bringing natural elements into their home. This brings freshness to a space and helps to meld outdoor and indoor spaces into one, creating a lovely place to chill after a stressful day.

Houseplants are the most popular accessory here, but also consider bringing prints into your bedroom. This is a great way to achieve a natural feel even if you don’t have a green thumb!

We love the new Miami and Frond Duvet sets which inject a bit of colour and life into a space. Pair these with complimentary fresh tones like the Cotton Herringbone Blanket or the Honeycomb Weave throws. The Luxury Embroidered Quilt has a more neutral feel if (like me) you prefer a more minimal colour palette. I think these patterns work best with a simple bed frame such as the Sonora or Malabar
Don’t forget a fresh scent, I think the Meraki Bontaical diffusers would work perfectly here!

Bold Colours

We’re seeing an increase in bolder colour choices across interiors, showing that it isn’t just minimal and muted shades that people are finding relaxing! Key tones include – Mustard Yellow, Rusty Orange and deep Green!

This look can be created with a feature wall, bright bedding, or if you really want to make a statement, a colourful bed!
The Large quilted throws are perfect paired with something like our Ochre Bamboo bedding for block colours. Alternatively, go full maximalist with the Colourful Dots set. Layer up different colours for a more impactful look!
Add some subtle extras with the Glass Tea-light holders or Scented candles in decorative pots or go bold with the Velvet covered stools.
Our painted and upholstered beds come in a wide range of colours, so you’re sure to find something to suit your personal style. Get in touch for free samples of the timber or fabrics to ensure you’re getting a perfect match!

Of course, there are no rules to decorating your space! I hope this post has inspired you to mix things up and try something new. What is your favourite interior design trend at the moment? Let us know in the comments!
