With Christmas fast approaching, it’s time to prepare your guest bedroom for visitors! Whether you’re hosting the big day itself or preparing for unexpected visitors – we have a few suggestions for making your spare room feel cosy and stylish.
One of the first thing you notice when entering a space is the scent. It always nice to know the room smells clean and inviting, but you can layer more complex scents over the top for a cosy and festive touch. Our current favourites are the Meraki Luxury Scented Diffusers for a warm and woody base note. You could then light a candle or use the Fox Cub & Co Wax Melts for an extra pop of aroma! We particularly love the Cinnamon Butter & ginger scent from the Fox Cub & Co Winter Scents Collection. You could also include a Candle Snuffer and Matches in a Cloche for an extra fancy feel for your guests!
My top tip is to wipe the radiators down with your favourite scented cleaner, then when the heating comes on, the clean fresh scent will radiate throughout the room. Always ensure cushion covers and bedding are freshly washed. Speaking of bedding…
If your guest bedroom bedding is feeling a little tired, perhaps its time for an upgrade! Go for hotel luxury with a high thread count, or a more relaxed look with textured linens. Our best seller at the moment, the Organic Cotton Muslin Bedding is available in four contemporary shades and boasts a super soft, kind-to-skin feel. The Gingham Cotton Bedding is perfect for that cosy cottage-core look.
Layer with a heavy bedspread so your guest can customise their comfort. I love the Velvet Reversible Quilt in Cinnamon for a classic cosy look, or the Textured Cotton Bedspread for a more modern, Scandi vibe. Top off with a faux fur throw or wool blanket for an extra luxurious look!
You may want to think about using a mattress protector to freshen the feel of a tired mattress, or a mattress topper for added comfort. And if your spare mattress is ready for replacement it’s not yet too late to order a new one – get in touch to find out which models can still be delivered by Christmas. You also can’t go wrong with soft but supportive pillows, again these can be refreshed using pillow protectors if they are not new.
The right lighting creates a relaxing and cosy environment to destress at the end of the day. The addition of bedside lighting in your guest bedroom can improve sleep by creating the perfect space to unwind. One of our current favourites is the Large Mushroom Lamps, perfect for an overall warm or colourful glow. For reading or getting ready, the LED Task Lights offer a bright even light and will illuminate even the darkest of corners.
For a festive touch, why not add a wreath or sweet little christmas light-string. Our current favourites are the Festive Metal Candle Rings, Light Up Metal Mistletoe Wreath for a classic festive look. You could also string up some classic LED Light-Strings for the sparkly glow or use the Wooden Bead Light String for something a little different.
Remember to relax – Christmas is a wonderful time of year. Celebrating the season with loved ones is what it’s all about. Hopefully our ideas on how to refresh your guest bedroom for Christmas will help your friends and family unwind, too!
