We love mid-century style at Natural Bed Company and have introduced a range of bed designs over the last few years inspired by mid-century design. Here we’ll take a look at the beds, bedside tables and bedding that we feel are perfect for a mid-century look bedroom.

The Hoxton & Camden Beds

The Hoxton and Camden beds are mid-height with elegant curved and tapering legs. The difference between them? The Hoxton has a stunning chevron design to the headboard panel, while the Camden bed has a classic plain headboard.
For a mid-century look we recommend choosing walnut, cherry or oak. These timbers all have rich, warm tones. Walnut is a deep chocolate colour, oak is a golden brown shade while cherry is a warmer russet tone. They also have a vibrant, variable grain which works incredibly well with the chevron pattern on the Hoxton.

Looking for a bedside table to match? Then take a look at our Camden bedside tables and Camden drawer table. These bedside tables were designed to suit our mid-century look beds. These tables are made by us and are therefore available in any of our hardwood timbers.
Another good choice is the Spindle bedside table by Ethnicraft. This elegant drawer table with a glass top is available in oak, black stained oak or reclaimed teak.

The Carnaby & Pimlico Beds

The Carnaby & Pimlico are lower versions of the Camden bed style. They have the same mid-century vibe, but with shorter legs – perfect for attic bedrooms or those who just prefer a lower bed! The Carnaby keeps the taller headboard panel of the Camden. The Pimlico bed has a shorter headboard panel (agan – this is very handy for sitting under a low, sloping ceiling or a window).

We suggest the low Camden bedside table to suit these beds, but many of our customers choose a taller table. If you also want a slightly taller bedside table try the Geometric or Pi tables from Ethnicraft. These are perfect for a mid-century style interior!

Mid-Century Style Four Posters

Want the glamour and impact of a 4-poster, but love mid-century style? Then look no further than the Harrow or Canterbury 4 posters. These solid wood beds have a shaped, tapered leg design with slender, tapering posts. The canopy is made using slim timber lengths for a light and airy look.
Like the Camden and Hoxton beds, the Canterbury and Harrow have the same design, but the Harrow has a chevron headboard.

The Camden drawer table seems to be the favourite choice to pair with these beds. However the tall mid-century look bedside tables are another good choice.

Mid-Century Look Beds with an Upholstered Headboard

It’s still possible to create a mid-century look using a bed with a cosy, upholstered headboard. We have a wide range available including the gorgeous Bloomsbury bed shown here.
We have a wide range of upholstered bed designs to choose from. An upholstered headboard is a great way to personalise your bed. With so many fabric options and hardwood timber choices your bed combination may well be one of a kind!

We’ve recently added Eco-Velvet to our fabric collection. This short pile velvet is ideal for a plush mid-century look. Eco Velvet fabric is 100% recycled pile velvet, knitted from yarns extruded from post-consumer PET bottles. Repurposing thousands of plastic bottles that otherwise would have been bound for the ocean or landfill.

Mid-Century Style Accessories & Bedding

You are sure to find a wide range of accesories suitable for a mid-century look at Natural Bed Company. We have a constantly changing range of bedding, lots of throws and cushions, furniture and lighting.

Choose your colour scheme and filter by colour; mustard, olive, burnt orange and teal are popular for this period style.

My favourite accessories for a mid-century look include the boucle armchair and our new boucle throws. Both would add interest and texture to your scheme. The stylish bedspread and pillowcase set shown here is another great choice for adding texture. The modern embroidered pattern is very ‘mid-century’.
