This is the time of year when you really want to feel snuggled up in bed. Layering up with a cosy duvet is one of the best ways to do just that! The materials that you choose for your duvet can help to keep the warmth in on those cold winter nights.
If you’re looking to treat yourself to a Feather & Down Duvet, we recommend opting for one that has a high down percentage to help fight off the chills. Down is very insulating and helps keep air trapped underneath the duvet; super cosy in wintertime! However, it still remains breathable so shouldn’t overheat.
We stock a wide range of feather and down duvets, from duck feather to Hungarian goose down. You can find them all just here.
Another great option is a Wool Filled Duvet. Wool is naturally temperature regulating, meaning it helps to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer. It’s also anti-allergy and naturally repels dust mites, so is great for those suffering with allergies or hay-fever. The wool duvets are available in two weights – choose from either light (300gsm) or cosy (600gsm). The 600gsm is best suited to winter months as it is heavier and denser than the 300gsm.
If you’re looking for a vegan option for your wintertime bedding, we also have the Organic Cotton & Kapok Duvet, which is made from all plant-based materials. This duvet is equivalent to 8-9 tog/500gsm, which is a perfect choice the year-round. Kapok is also made with the intention to imitate down feathers and is sometimes known as ‘plant down’. It’s a dense fibre that helps to keep the warmth in.
You can also find the Botanic Vegan Duvet on our website, which is available in lower tog ratings. If opting for this for your wintertime bedding, you could always layer up with extra blankets and bedspreads for additional warmth! You can find our full range of duvets just here.
When it comes to bedding, you can’t go far wrong with a nice bedspread. They’re an easy way to add an extra layer to your bedding in the colder months – just pop them over the top of your duvet. Plus, they can be used on their own as a lighter layer in summer.
A new addition to our bedspread selection are the Soft Cross Stitch Bedspreads. Available in either a pale stone shade or a soft blush pink, they’ve become a staff favourite! They have a unique, brushed texture that is super soft and cosy against the skin. Moreover, they’re a large size at 250x260cm, meaning they’ll easily cover even up to a superking bed – plenty of room for snuggling under!
Another great option are the velvet quilted bedspreads – available in either Olive Green or Hazelnut. These lovely, traditional bedspreads are quilted and filled with a polyester filling for extra warmth. They have a cotton velvet front and a textured cotton reverse in a classic limestone colour for interest when folded down. The perfect addition to any wintertime bedding scheme.
Not sure about a heavy quilted bedspread? Even though it’s winter, some of us do still get warm whilst we sleep. If that’s you, maybe you’d just like to add a light layer over the top of your duvet. Materials such as cotton and linen are especially breathable and lightweight. Something like the Pure Cotton Floral Pattern Bedspreads are a good option. These are heavy enough to make a difference on top of your duvet, but they’re just a single layer, so make for a much more lightweight option.
If you’re looking for a bedspread set, you could also take a look at the Limestone Bedspread Set in stonewash cotton, or the Textured Bedspread Sets in soft grey or blush pink. You can find our full range of bedspreads and quilts just here.
If you’re looking for a cosy throw this time of year, wool is the ideal choice. Wool is naturally temperature regulating, meaning it has natural qualities that help insulate, and keep you warm in winter. We have a really wide selection when it comes to choosing a wool throw, but here are some of our favourites!
The newest addition to our range of wool throws is the Crimson & Charcoal Soft Lambswool Throw. Made up of a very rich, deep crimson red shade with a warm pink hue, paired with dark charcoal grey. It is a lightweight throw but as it is made of lambswool, it is super cosy! The colours also emanate a warm feel, and with an almost cherry shade, this throw is right on trend.
Another favourite – not only amongst staff, but also with our customers, too! – are the Heavyweight Check Wool Blankets. These are some of the warmest in our range, as they are thicker than our other wool throws. They have a heavier weight, and therefore feel more enveloping, leaving you feeling snug and wrapped up. They’re available in three colours. Choose from either volcanic grey, steel grey or desert brown.
If you’re looking for something with a real pop of colour, the Orange Block Pure Wool Throws are great choice. This throw is a real vibrant, bright orange – ideal for creating a statement in any room. Plus, this cosy colour is ideal for warming you up on cold winter nights!
You can also find our full range of pure wool throws just here. There’s a whole range of colours, textures and types to choose from – you’re sure to find one to suit your space.
