Here we will introduce you to our latest bed design – the Iona. The Iona is a very low bed with a low, solid wood base and a tall, upholstered and buttoned headboard panel. The design in inspired by our low, Sonora solid wood bed and the taller Arran bed which has a buttoned headboard. The headboard panel on the Iona isn’t quite as tall as the Arran headboard, so we’ve simplified the design – happily this is in keeping with the low, modern bed-frame.

The solid wood base

The low, four-leg bed base is available in any of our hardwood timbers: oak, ash, beech, maple, cherry or walnut. The contemporary design of the frame is the same as you will find on the Sonora and Nevada beds. The Iona is shown here with a solid oak base.

The height to top of bed slats is just 17cm – this is ideal if you are looking for a very low bed, possibly to sit under attic eaves, or to give a loft-style look to your bedroom? This design includes a generous headboard panel, taking the height to top of headboard to 73cm, which shows off the fabric and simple buttoned design.

The upholstered headboard 

The headboard panel is around 40cm in height with a simple, contemporary design – a single row of three, fabric covered buttons. The Iona is available upholstered with our main collection of fabrics or upholstered in our premium, pure wool fabric.

NBC made Iona bed has a padded and buttoned headboard, a choice of fabrics are available.

Our main fabric collection, available for any of our upholstered beds, includes Tailor and Amatheon plain fabrics in a range of colours. Tailor is a finely woven fabric with a soft, subtle sheen – 50% wool, 15% cotton, 17% polyamide, 14% polyester, 4% poly-cotton mix. The felt-look, marl fabric Amatheon is 70% Wool, 25% Polyamide, 5% Other Fibres. These are soft and luxurious, high quality fabrics (Martindale rating 40,000+) suitable for contract upholstery.

The Iona is photographed here upholstered in our Premium Fabric – Parquet. Parquet is a luxury, pure wool fabric with a classic basketweave pattern, available in a range of contemporary colours: Turquoise, Orange, Denim, Silver, Pewter, Petrol (shown here on the Iona), Sage and Hessian. Parquet also achieves 40,000 rubs on the Martindale abrasion test.
