Our Kyoto collection includes the Kyoto, Kumo, and Kobe beds, and Kyoto bedside tables. The range is inspired by minimalist, oriental interior design. The Japanese style beds in this range are modern, pared back designs – available with or without headboards. Unfussy and unpretentious – the beds in this collection have a timeless quality and have proven popular over the many decades we have been making them.
The recessed leg base results in a ‘floating bed’ appearance while actually providing a solid support for the bed frame and mattress. Due to the simplicity of the look, these beds are easy to update with new bedding and accessories and will be treasured over the years without ever dating.

The Kobe Bed

The lowest of the beds in this range – the Kobe is just 14cm from the floor to the top of the side rails. Available with or without a headboard, the Kobe bed is shown here without a heaboard in sanded pine. As serene and minimalist as we could make it!
If you are looking for a very low bedside table to match – I would recommend the Oregon bedside table or the lowest Cube table.

The Kumo Bed

The Kumo bed has the same minimlaist style as the Kobe, but with slightly taller legs. Float above the floor on this refined low wooden bed, after-all ‘kumo’ is a Japanese word for cloud.
The Kumo is shown here in solid pine stained Wenge – a dark espresso brown. The Kyoto bedside tables in a matching finish completes the Zen look.

The Kyoto Bed

Like the Kumo, the Kyoto bed can give your room a true Japanese feel.
Similar to the Kumo bed, but with legs 5cm taller to make space for under-bed drawers. Under-bed drawers are a great option if you want to keep the clutter at bay and preserve the minimal look. For extra storage add a Kyoto bedside table with a drawer or (as shown here) pair this bed with the Black Lotus low drawer unit.

The Kyoto Bedside Tables & Under-Bed Drawers

Though many of our more modern bedside tables also suit this japanese style beds collection, the Kyoto tables were designed specifically to work with the Kumo and Kyoto. There are two versions of the Kyoto table – one has a simple shelf, the other has a single drawer for hiding away any clutter.

Kyoto Table Dimensions: 32 x 50 x H 36cm.

Please note the Kyoto bedside shelf table no longer has the dove-tail joint detail. It now has the simple clean lines of the Kyoto drawer table.

If you want to add under-bed drawers then the Kyoto is the bed for you. The Kyoto under-bed drawers are designed to sit between the inset legs (see the image below).
