With Christmas just around the corner, it’s time to prepare a cosy guest bedroom for visitors! Whether you’re hosting for the first time or its just been a while since you’ve had friends and family stop over – we have a few suggestions for making your spare room feel cosy and welcoming!

Cosy Guest Bedroom Essentials

Bedding

One of the most important factors for a cosy guest bedroom is bedding. We suggest having something warm, soft and easy to clean!
We love the brushed cotton bedding in Dark Grey or Stone for that warm snuggly feeling. For something a little cooler, take a look at the 600 thread count cotton range for the ultimate hotel feel! If your style is more laid back, Linen bedding is a great option for those who get a little warm in the night as it is fantastic at regulating temperature. Its naturally wrinkled texture means it doesn’t require any ironing to be guest ready!

Layers are also great for keeping guests warm! A heavy bedspread is a good start for that heavy insulting layer. Something large like the Stockholm Bedspread for extra colour, texture and a modern look. Alternatively, the Waffle Weave Throws give a slightly more minimal feel. Top off with a faux fur throw or wool blanket for an extra luxurious look and cosy feel!
For extra warmth and luxury, you could invest in a new duvet and pillows! The Tencel filed pillows have been very popular lately due to their soft fluffy feel. Alternatively, the Feather and Down options are a favourite choice for that ultimate luxurious feel! Wool Filled Duvets provide great insulation for your guests in December, if your guests are vegan, the Botanic Duvet is another great option.

Towels

Theres nothing like a clean fluffy towel to give your loved ones the hotel experience in your guest bedroom!
We love the Super Soft range in Charcoal or White for the softest feel. We also carry a range of Organic towels, from the Eco Twist or Waffle texture depending on your preference.

Transformation

If it really has been a while since anyone has sent any time in your guest room, you might feel some larger changes are in order!

Painting

Perhaps a re-paint to freshen up the space, playing with colour is an easy way to make your guest bedroom feel clean and cosy. Whether its a fresh coat of white, or something bolder – we love the different feel a new colour can make!

Mattress

Something to make your guests really comfortable would be investing in a new mattress!
We carry a range of firmness levels and fillings depending on your preferences – Mainly Sprung with a few Latex and Foam options! We’d recommend visiting our Sheffield Showroom to try them out in person.
Top with a mattress topper (optional!) and a mattress protector (essential!) and you’ll want to stay in your cosy guest bedroom yourself this Christmas!

Finishing touches

Little finishing details will help to stop the room feeling like an unused spare. Scent the room using candles or Reed Diffusers. Particularly good at this time of year are sprucey scents such as the Nordic Fireside scent from the Aery Candles in Clay Pots range or something a little sweet and spicy like the Amber and Patchouli from the Mojo candles in Amber Glass Jars range.
Hot Water bottles are always in use at my house this time of year – soft fluffy faux fur options make them extra cosy!

A luxury scented soap can be used to scent a smalls drawer or just be placed as a treat on the towels or in the ensuite. We love the Sevin Luxury Gift Soap Set so your guest can choose a scent!
Robes are also lovely to leave out in a guest bedroom incase someone forgets theirs. Something simple like the Unisex Luxury Soft Cotton Robes would be ideal to keep anyone cosy!

We hope this blog has been helpful in creating your dream cosy guest bedroom! You can always get in touch for further information and shop all the mentioned items in store or online.
