In this blog we take a look at various ways you can add a splash of colour to your bedroom scheme – from a bed with a painted or upholstered headboard, to colourful new bedding and cushions.
We have a range of solid wood bed bases that can be ordered with an upholstered headboard. This allows you to choose from a wide range of fabric colours to compliment your bedroom scheme, you can even supply your own fabric (we just need to check with our upholsterer that it will be appropriate). The Iona bed shown here is a low bed – the base in solid walnut looks fantastic with the tall, buttoned headboard covered in Amatheon Emperor – a deep berry colour. It really works with the wall painted in Farrow & Ball Sulking Room Pink and the blush pink locker. The Iona looks great in a range of colours – we’ve also photographed the pure wool, Parquet fabric in petrol on an oak Iona and it’s proved incredibly popular. In the main image above you can see our Arran bed in beech wood with a buttoned headboard in a Amatheon Marine. A deep teal colour, that works really well with our Sashiko look bedding in Teal.
The Iona and Arran aren’t the only upholstered beds in our collection. We also offer the Shetland, Skye and Highland beds. The Skye has a chunky wooden bed base with a very tall buttoned headboard. We’ve photographed this in grey Amatheon, but we’ve seen this bed in a range of customer’s more colourful choices and it looks amazing. The height of the headboard will ensure your room will get a real shot of colour – my favourite? Amatheon Russet Red!The Shetland bed has a plain (not buttoned) headboard surrounded by a wooden frame – this really makes the headboard the focus. The lack of buttons means that the Shetland is a great choice for patterned fabrics such as the blue and silver Amsterdam fabric shown here with an oak frame and deep blue wall. The Highland bed is a four poster bed with an upholstered headboard – add a splash of colour to your bedroom by choosing Amatheon Chartreuse or Lime with a dark walnut frame.
The Sol & Tao are versions of our Sahara and Tibet beds, but instead of solid wood headboards they have a painted headboard available in any colour you choose! The Sol, shown here, has a solid wooden base in oak or walnut, the slim legs support a colourful headboard panel. Shown here is a soft baby blue, we’ve made Sol beds in purple, green and pink! The Tao bed is a chunkier version of the Sahara, again the base is available in oak or walnut. That said – if you really want a Sol or Tao in cherry or maple – just let us know – we can help!
We have a wide range of colourful bedding available – in a range of colours, fabrics and styles. One of our favourites is the bright ‘Modern Painted Flowers’ duvet set – shown here – it has brightly coloured splashes creating painterly looking flowers printed on one side. One the reverse is a pattern of blue ‘ink splatters’. It’s a great way to easily update a bedroom scheme and add some colour ready for summer.
Take a look at our Natural Cotton & Linen Bedding category and use the filter in the side bar to select the colour you are looking for. It’s that easy! You’ll find lots of options available including those shown below.
Complete your bedroom scheme with a colourful throw or bedspread – a patterned throw can allow you to tie together the various colours in your scheme. Take a look at the image of our Modern Merino Lambswool Throw here – the dark blue reflects the deep blue headboard, the bright aqua picks up the colours of the duvet set and pale aqua wall, the caramel tones reflect the warm beech of the bed base.
Below you can see a range of our many colourful throws, blankets, quilts and bedspreads. Popular colours for this year are turmeric yellow, burnt orange, dark teal and greens in olive and lime.
Don’t forget to complete your look with some bright cushions or accessories (if you are a bit frightened of adding colour it’s a quick and easy way to try out a new shade). I particularly love our new ombre cushions in mint green and pale silver grey, or blush pink and mid grey. They work so well with many of our new duvet sets. Our new range of colourful storage lockers is another way to add colour. We have small bedside lockers, tall storage units (with shelves or a rail), a low sideboard unit and a taller, wide unit. They are available in a huge range of colours so you’re sure to find the right colour for your bedroom scheme.A pretty scented candle or diffuser can also add some colour to your bedside table. Choose a colour that ties in with your bedding or a wall colour and it will help tie your scheme together.
