Browse our collection of classic wooden beds, all handcrafted to order at our Sheffield workshop. These beds are designed for longevity – in style as well as construction. Whether you are looking for a beautifully proportioned wooden frame, a classic bed with an upholstered headboard, or a four-poster with presence, each frame is built from sustainably sourced hardwood and comes with a 12-year structural guarantee. As our beds are handmade to order, customisations are often possible. Please get in touch to discuss.
Every bed in this collection is handcrafted from solid hardwood at our Sheffield workshop – no veneers, no MDF! We use seven (plus some special editions) sustainably sourced timbers: oak, walnut, ash, maple, beech, cherry and pine. Because each bed is made to order, you choose the timber and size that works for your room, with some customisation available to help you get the perfect bed for your space.
Classic wooden beds made from solid hardwood improve with age. The grain deepens, the warmth of the timber comes through and the frame becomes a piece of furniture you can pass on rather than replace, unlike many mass-produced alternatives. This is reflected in our 12-year structural guarantee.
Our classic bed range spans several distinct styles, so there’s plenty to look at.
For a traditional wooden bed frame with clean, elegant lines, the Chiswick and Highbury are enduringly popular designs. Both have a refined, large headboard and unfussy elegance that suits both period properties and more contemporary rooms. Both look fantastically sophisticated in rich walnut.
The Camden is perhaps our most popular bed, with its classic appearance and strong, yet delicately rounded headboard legs it can be a real feature in any bedroom. The Camden looks wonderful in any of our timbers, and is also available in our special edition English Oak. If you love the Camden, but want something with a little more detail, the Hoxton is the same design with a chevron patterned headboard that looks particularly beautiful in Ash and Walnut.
For something with more decorative character, you might want to take a look at the Cochin, Cochin Grand or Dalston. Their tapered legs give them a characterful profile which is perfect for a master bedroom.
If you like the warmth of fabric alongside solid wood, one of our lovely upholstered classic beds could be the right choice. The Bloomsbury has our classic Camden legs, paired with a large upholstered headboard and comes in a range of fabrics, in both buttoned and seamed designs. If you want more timber on display, you might prefer the Carlisle, which has the same curved legs with an added headboard frame. The Shetland also has a stunning framed headboard, but with straighter legs. For a large, statement headboard, the Skye is perfect.
Four a classic four poster the Canterbury brings mid-century-style to a statement piece of furniture. For an upholstered four-poster take a look at the Highland, which is available in our full timber and fabric ranges.
For a low classic wood bed, take a look at the Pimlico and Carnaby, which have the same curved legs as the Camden, just at lower heights.
Many of the beds in our classic beds collection are available in some of our special edition timbers and finishes, including English Oak, Scottish Elm, Black Oak, Warm Smoked Ash and Cool Smoked Ash. You can learn more about all of our timbers here, or order some free samples here.
