At Natural Bed Company we make a wide range of solid wood beds. From simple, minimalist futon bases and modern, low platform beds to luxurious four posters and elaborate wooden bed bases with upholstered headboards. In this blog we’ll take a look at our luxury solid wood beds that have maximum impact. Perfect for a spacious master bedroom.

Four Poster Beds

Our four poster beds are the ultimate in luxury – after all a four poster can’t fail to impress! Your choice of design depends on the size of your bedroom and the look you want to create.

If your style is a little bohemian or you are the type to collect artefacts from travels to far flung places – then the Raj bed is the perfect four poster for you. This colonial style 4 poster incorporates design motifs inspired by India. With a bold, simple shape to suit western lifestyles. Add one of our Zari duvet covers, or quilts, in jewel like colours to compete the look.

The Orchid 4-poster is a classic design that can suit a traditional bedroom style or a contemporary look. This versatile bed is a great choice if you like to redecorate and change your style every couple of years. The Orchid will look great with any interior design scheme.

If you prefer modern simplicity take a look at the Oasis or Cube four-posters. The Cube has a low sleeping platform with tall, slender posts. A contemporary loft-style is generally preferred by those ordering a Cube bed. Add a pair of low Cube bedside tables for maximum impact. These useful bedside tables have a handy storage drawer and shelf. Meaning, they also help keep your master bedroom a stylish (and tidy!) haven.

The Oasis is a clever design. Perfect if you want to maximise space! It does’t have upper side rails connecting the posts and so will keep the space feeling light and airy. However, it still has the height and impact of a traditional 4-poster.

Upholstered Beds

We currently offer two solid wood bed bases with upholstered headboard panels. Though very different in style, both add a luxurious and cosy feel to any bedroom. With upholstered headboards you can find a fabric to tone with the rest of your scheme. Or, even use a matching fabric to that chosen for curtains, cushions or even to cover the walls! (If you want us to use your own fabric – please note it should be upholstery grade and meet fire retardancy regulations. Contact us for more information.)

The Arran Bed is a neat design. It doesn’t have a very large foot print – but with a tall buttoned and upholstered headboard it still has the wow factor. The Arran bed is shown above with a beautiful solid walnut base, upholstered in ‘Tailor’ fabric in the colour – Wolf.

The Shetland bed has a deep frame constructed using wide, but slender sections of solid timber. This gives a refined and elegant appearance with a strong, solid construction. The upholstered headboard is deeply padded and offers a cosy, supportive back-rest for reading in bed.

NEW: We’ve just launched two new upholstered beds – the Iona low bed and tall Skye bed, both have buttoned headboards.

Chunky Solid Wood Beds

An impressive bed is the ideal focus for a large master bedroom. A great way to alter your sense of the space – a wide, low bed will disguise a lower ceiling height and so suits an attic bedroom. Whilst a four poster needn’t take up much floor space, but the height gives impact by using space that can’t be used for anything else.

We offer a number of chunky solid wood beds – from the Kulu and Oregon low, wide platform beds, to the Ocean and Tibet beds which use thick timber sections for a bold, timeless look.

Show off your timber

The Oregon is our widest platform bed – with a deep frame and (optional) modern low bedside tables – the Oregon is a real show stopper. A lot of timber is used to make an Oregon bed, but with it’s pared-down, geometric design this contemporary classic will last for decades both in style terms and construction (all our solid wood beds come with a 12year structural guarantee.) The Kulu platform bed is the perfect choice if you like this style, but have a little less floor space available.

The Tibet bed is the most under-stated design in this blog, it’s the tall, solid-wood headboard and thick section timber frame that gives this bed a luxury feel. Whether in solid oak, cherry, maple or walnut – this simple design highlights the beauty and diversity of natural solid wood.

The Ocean is another chunky timber bed, inspired by a customer who loved the Tibet, but wanted even more timber on show! The Ocean looks best in a large bedroom with similar, contemporary solid wood furniture. The Ethnicraft Flat tall-boy and the Azur chest of drawers are particular favourites.
